The waste water from the Drying Section will be sent to a waste water pond where
PVC solid in the waste water will precipitate to some extent. This waste water is
transferred by a Waste Water Transfer Pump (PU-3209) to the Waste Water Treatment
Unit. The expected characteristics of the waste water from the pond are as follows:
While the Grade change, waste water is discharged from Stripping Column (TW-3201)
to sewer.
Waste water containing high COD content is discharged from the VCM Recovery
Section of the PVC plants. This waste water is transferred by a Waste Water Pump
(PU-3307) to the Waste Water Treatment Unit.

EPCL PVC Expansion 1-15
Used water is cooling water and the waste water used for the Reactor Cleaning is
delivered to a public sewer after being filtrated by bag filters made of clothes.
The waste water from PVC plant will be sent to Battery Limit.
The expected characteristics of the waste water during normal operation are as follows:

Off-spec. PVC shall be separated from the product in the Product Sieve and
discharged/sold as a 2nd product.
The PVC sludge containing no harmful object, which sediments in the waste water
pond and the separator pond, can be buried underground.
Waste gas from the Plants shall meet the Local standard.
Waste gas to dry up the PVC powder in the Dryer Unit is discharged to atmosphere
through an Exhaust Scrubber (VE-3207), which is furnished with a demister and
water scrubbing
Fluid : Air
Quantity : Approx. 42,000 Nm3/h
Temperature : Approx. 50 oC

VCM : 1 ppm max.
PVC powder : Max. 10 mg/Nm3
The process waste gas containing waste VCM gas is discharged from VCM Gas
Treatment Unit (UT-3301) in the VCM Recovery Section of the PVC Plant with the
following composition :
Waste blowdown gas containing VCM from VCM safety valves shall be discharged
directly to atmosphere in the worst case of emergency.
