According to (Getz, 2012), events have a beginning and an end.

They are always planned


and detailed in advance. They have a certain schedule and are published to the targeted
group in advance. The location for the events is usually restricted to a particular area.
However, in various cases, it can just be an open space with a large area. Event is a word
that is generally used for an occurrence at a given place, a special circumstance, which can
only occur once. One key characteristic of an event is that they are time-limited, it is not a
continuous process, each event has a beginning and ending time, and it is very difficult to
replicate an event no matter how one tries.

An event covers extensive functionally and many different contexts. Its concepts include
social gatherings, sports, meetings, entertainments, festivals, etc. and it has become a
fashion to use the word event for something that involves people and time in a particular
place. It is seen as a functionality “primitive” meaning something that happens attached to
a time frame (Goldblatt, 2011). Efficient and timely management of events is required to
accomplish various tasks portrays some of these tasks involved in managing an event.

However, the continuous advancement in Information and Communication Technology


(ICT) has contributed a lot to the universe, making life easier for individual, organization,
institution, and every field now see the importance of ICT as the world goes global and
tend towards ubiquitous computing. The rate of time-consuming tasks and tedious
activities has reduced as a result of this advancement because many tasks can now be
automated with the help of technology improving the manual way of processing, storing,
accessing, communicating, and providing information from one person to another or
among the group of people (Sabah, 2012).
