Problem
Folklore has it that there is an inverse correlation between mathematical and artistic
ability. Suppose you decide to determine whether there is anything to this notion.
You randomly sample 5 participants and give them tests measuring these two
abilities.

2. What is the correlation value between mathematical ability and artistic ability?
Interpret result.
r = 0.9
r suggest a very high correlaton between Mathematcal Ability and Artstc Ability

3. Is there a significant correlation between mathematical ability and artistic


ability at 0.05 level of significance (2-tailed)? What is your conclusion this
time?
-Conclusion: Since the correlaton of r = 0.97 fell in the critcal region (beyond +-
.514) I conclude that there is a signifcant relaton between mathematcal ability
and artstc ability at 0.05 level of signifcance.

4. Develop the scatter diagram and predictive equation

5. If the mathematical ability scores are 5, 28 and 45, what will be the
corresponding artistic ability scores?
