SSL 490A - Fuel Sender Replacements 2018-10-12 Option
SSL 490A - Fuel Sender Replacements 2018-10-12 Option
Service Spares Letter (SSL) 490A supersedes SSL 490 in its entirety.
REASON FOR REVISION: SSL 490A adds new available fuel sender part numbers.
PURPOSE: New replacement fuel quantity senders have been approved as service
replacements in the affected aircraft. Depending upon wing location of the fuel
sender to be replaced, a unique fuel sender part number, identified under Material
Required, below, is to be ordered and installed.
NOTE: “Wire wound” type fuel senders, which were factory installed in some of
the affected aircraft, are no longer available. On condition, wire wound
fuel senders must be replaced with the fuel senders announced by this
service spares letter.
The wire wound and the replacement fuel senders are not compatible.
When any wire wound fuel sender fails, all must be replaced with the
latest service replacements.
The new replacement fuel senders are compatible with service
replacement fuel senders that may have been installed per Piper
Service Letter (SL) 1159, any revision, and/or SSL 435 (which was
superseded by SL 1159).
NOTE: Piper SL 1159, latest revision, provides, for affected aircraft that
were delivered with wire wound fuel senders, kits with the parts and
instructions to replace each of the fuel sender assemblies. The kits
relocate the outboard fuel senders assemblies farther inboard.
