Topic:
This report focuses on how mobile phones play the important role and the effects of having a mobile
phone.
Mobile Phones have improved over a many years and decades, the first mobile phone was invented in
the 1970s. Mobile phones are small, light, and portable. The role of mobile phone is to have a easy
communication (calling, texting, video calling) among users anywhere, use of internet and social medias
such as Facebook, Instagram, twitter and email. Mobile phones help people to communicate and share
information with their friends. Parents use it for safety purposes such as if they are going to travel
somewhere, they will let you know through mobile phones. Mobile phone can be easily used at home,
at schools, and when traveling. They make life easier and have lots of benefits. Mobile phones were not
popular in the early days but now are very much important in daily lives. They are very useful in certain
cases such as calling the police or doctor when needed, contacting family while they are out from
home/school or traveling around the world. ( Steven Melendez, 2018)
Although mobile phones are useful and important, there are some negative impacts and harms that
mobile phones do. mobile phones are addictive and cause depression. They can shorten attention span,
decrease relationships between friends and family. Mobile phones also harm our brain development.
They impair vision and hearing and cause sleep disturbance. Mobile phones can have a negative impact
if we use them too much.
There are two types of mobile phones, IOS (iPhone Operating System) and Android. There are over 2.5
billion users in 190 countries and 1 billion users of IOS (5.48% increase in the past year). The most
common Android phones are Samsung, LG and Sony. However, there are only one type of IOS phone,
iPhone. The design and models develop every year for both Android and IOS.
Context:
The total number of mobile phone users in the world are 5.27 billion users in the world and this is an
increase of 117 million users in the past 12 months according to GSMA. The number of smartphones in
use is increasing at a 5.6 percent annual rate, with over 1 million new devices being added every day.
The number of unique mobile phone subscribers will reach 20.13 billion globally by 2021.Due to the
popularity of smartphones, it is very important for it to be protected against harmful effects. Some apps
do not have privacy policy and they can pass on your information to third parties without letting you
know. Apple comes with a feature called "Limit ad tracking"; this feature limits ad tracking and how you
use your device can also be limited if you want and there are many other phones that have the same
features as iPhone.
China has about 912 million smartphone users in 2021, more than any other country. India had the
second-highest number of smartphone users, despite this was less than half that of China. These two
nations are anticipated to continue to dominate the smartphone user rankings, since China and India are
also the world's two most populous countries, with tremendous growth potential (S. O’Dea,2021).
