USAGE GUIDE
Welcome to the HDFC Bank RuPay Debit Card experience!
We are pleased to present you the HDFC Bank RuPay Debit Card. This Card comes with a host of benefits that are enlisted
below. Please go through them carefully to make the most of your Card.
RuPay Debit Card can be used at ATMs, merchant outlets and online stores in India only.
To get a Debit Card that can be used internationally, please visit the nearest branch and request for an International Debit Card.

RuPay Debit Card Privileges


5% CashBack on Utility Bill payments made with your RuPay Debit Card
Get `5 CashBack for every `100 that you spend through your RuPay Debit Card for Utility Bill payments. CashBack of up to a
maximum aggregate of `50 per month per Card can be accumulated. CashBack will be given by the end of the subsequent
month from the date of transaction.

Zero fuel surcharge


As a RuPay Debit Card holder, fuel surcharge levied on your RuPay Debit Card at any fuel pump in India will be reversed by the
end of the subsequent month from the date of levy of the surcharge. (Up to a maximum of `75 per month per Card). This waiver
is valid at all fuel pumps across the country. The minimum transaction value should be `300 or above.

Personal Accidental Death and Permanent Total Disability Insurance of `2 lakhs


You are entitled to a Personal Accidental Death Cover by Air/Road/Rail and Permanent Total Disability Insurance Cover - Sum
assured `2 lakhs.
For any claims under Personal Accidental Death Insurance to be accepted and processed, the Cardholder should have carried
out at least 1 transaction using the RuPay Debit Card, within 30 days prior to the event date.

Standing Instruction on RuPay Debit Card


With Standing Instruction facility on Debit Cards, under BillPay, you can take care of your bill payments automatically without
having to write cheques and wait in queues. For new bills, visit NetBanking > BillPay & Recharge tab > Add Biller > Enter new
biller details. For registered bills, log in to NetBanking > Go to BillPay & Recharge > Standing Instruction. Also, get 5% CashBack
(maximum CashBack `100) on Utility/Telecom for the first 3 months with Standing Instruction on RuPay Debit Card till 31st
March 2015.

Online Payment Ready


Be it online shopping, payment of your utility bills or booking a movie ticket, just use the HDFC Bank RuPay Debit Card from the
comfort of your home. What's more, we have added one extra layer of security, the Rupay PaySecure Service that confirms your
identity with an extra password when you make the online transaction.

Zero Liability Protection Sum up to `1 lakh*


You will not have any liability towards any fraudulent transactions on your RuPay Debit Card that takes place 30 days prior to
reporting the Card loss. This protection is only applicable for Point-Of-Sale (POS) transactions and not for ATM/Online Debit
Card/NetSafe transactions, subject to a maximum liability of `1 lakh per Card. Please report loss of Card immediately to our
PhoneBanking service or visit the nearest HDFC Bank branch for further assistance.
For any claims under Zero Liability to be accepted and processed, the Cardholder should have carried out at least 1 transaction
using the RuPay Debit Card, within 6 months prior to the date of the disputed purchase transaction.

• Cafe Coffee Day: Buy one cappuccino, get one cappuccino free
• The Mobile Store: Up to `1500 off on select handsets

Merchant discounts
• Cafe Coffee Day: 15% off on a minimum billing of ` 300
• IRCTC: `25 CashBack on booking done through www.irctc.co.in on minimum transaction value of `300 (capped at 1 transaction/
month) (CashBack on Cafe Coffee Day and IRCTC will be processed as per MID & TID defined by NPCI under the programme)

Airport Lounge Access: RuPay Platinum Airport Lounge Access programme provides access to the participating lounges two
(2) times per calendar quarter per Card in any of the 27 participating airport lounges. Please visit www.hdfcbank.com to know
the list of participating airport lounges. Cardholder has to present the RuPay Platinum Debit Card at the point of entry to avail the
complimentary access. A nominal transaction fee of `2 per access will be charged to the Card. Customer will need to enter valid
PIN to complete the transaction.

Concierge services: Concierge service will be available as a 24x7 service across India on best-effort basis. Services offered
under the concierge service are detailed as under: Gift Delivery Assistance, Flower Delivery Assistance, Restaurant Referral and
Arrangement, Courier Service Assistance, Car Rental and Limousine Referral and Reservation Assistance, Golf Reservations,
Movie ticket sourcing Assistance, Car Rental and Sight Seeing Assistance, IT Return Assessment and Filing Assistance,
Investment Consultancy, Insurance Consultancy. RuPay Platinum Debit Card Concierge service can be availed in English or Hindi
by calling toll free number - 1800-26-78729. Most of the services will be on a chargeable basis as communicated by the service

Debit Card Usage


Your HDFC Bank RuPay Debit Card gives you access to your HDFC Bank Account at the following locations:

At Merchant Outlets for Shopping


• Effective 1st December, 2013, as per RBI mandate you need to complete the Point-of-Sale transaction at merchant location
using your ATM PIN
• Effective 1st December 2013, transaction at merchant outlet will be declined if wrong/NO PIN entered
• This RuPay Debit Card is enabled for domestic transactions only i.e. for shopping at merchant outlet, domestic online websites
and Cash withdrawals at domestic ATMs
• Present your Card to the merchant after selecting your purchases
• The merchant will swipe the Card through the electronic terminal and enter the amount of purchase
• On approval, the terminal will print out a transaction slip with all the details of the purchases. Check the slip and sign at the
appropriate place
• Your account with HDFC Bank will be debited online for the amount of your purchase (Subject to availability of funds in your
account)
• The merchant will return a copy of the transaction slip and your Card. Please ensure that you have received your own Card

You can shop online using your HDFC Bank RuPay Debit Card by using Rupay PaySecure Service.

Simple Checkout Process


• Select the goods and services from the merchant store/website and proceed to the payment page
• Enter your HDFC Bank RuPay Debit Card number and the online store will connect you with HDFC Bank, to check whether
your Card is secured with Rupay PaySecure Service
• In case your Card is not registered, HDFC Bank initiates a Rupay PaySecure Service pop-up window on your computer screen
and registration happens during the transaction itself. For subsequent transactions after registration, HDFC Bank initiates a
pop-up window for RuPay Card on your computer screen that includes your personal message
• Look for and confirm your personal message, then enter your password. HDFC Bank will then confirm your identity to the merchant

Note:
• Revised charges are applicable from 1st December 2014
• Transactions considered will include both Financial (Cash Withdrawal) and Non-Financial Transactions (Balance Enquiry, Mini Statement & PIN Change)
• Transactions conducted at ATMs in Mumbai, New Delhi, Chennai, Kolkata, Bengaluru and Hyderabad will be considered as Metro ATMs .

Please Note:
There are no charges for using the RuPay Debit Card at merchant locations for shopping and at HDFC Bank ATMs. However, at
railway stations and petrol pumps, transaction charges as per industry practices will be applicable.

Additional Card
Additional HDFC Bank RuPay Debit Cards are available to Joint Account holders at an Annual Fee of `150 per Card.
However, the operating instructions on the account should allow the financial transactions to be conducted singly by the
Joint Account holders.

Card Status
We are sending you an active RuPay Debit Card. If you have an existing ATM/Debit Card on the same account, the existing Card
will be deactivated within 3 days of receiving your new RuPay Debit Card.

Best practices
Dos and Don'ts to protect yourself from Debit Card frauds

Dos
• Do give the mailing address, residential or office address, where you are sure as to who will receive the Card/PIN
• Inform the Bank immediately about change in your mailing address to ensure correct delivery of your Card/PIN
in case of subsequent re-issue of Card
• If you lose your Debit Card, please report the loss immediately
• When you dispose your Card at the time of renewal/upgradation, please make sure that you cut it diagonally
before disposal
• Please keep your Card in a safe place. Treat it as carefully as you would treat your cash
• Please make sure you conduct any ATM transaction in complete privacy
• If your Card is held back by the ATM, please inform the concerned PhoneBanking/HDFC Bank branch personnel at once
• Please remember to take your Debit Card back after completing your ATM transaction
• Please change your ATM PIN once every 3 months
• Please sign your Debit Card as soon as you get it
• Please check your Card periodically to make sure it is not missing
Don'ts
• Please do not disclose your Debit Card Number/ATM PIN
• Please do not hand over the Card to anyone, even if he/she claims to represent the Bank
• Please do not write the ATM PIN on the Card or on a paper which you carry along with the Card
• Please do not provide any financial/personal/Debit Card related information to unknown websites or respond to emails
seeking such information
The ATM withdrawal at HDFC Bank ATM and other Bank's ATM will be revised with effect from 1st December 2014. Please visit
www.hdfcbank.com to know the revised charges.

Please Note
HDFC Bank reserves the right to revise policies, features and benefits offered on the Card and alter these Terms and Conditions
from time to time and may notify the Cardholder of any such alterations through an appropriate channel. The Cardholder will be
bound by such alterations unless the Card is returned to the Bank for cancellation before the date upon which any alteration is
to have effect.
HDFC Bank may introduce new services from time to time. The existence and availability of the new functions will be notified
to the Cardholder as and when they become available through HDFC Bank website (www.hdfcbank.com) or any mode of
communication deemed fit by the Bank. The changed Terms and Conditions applicable to the new services shall be
communicated to the Cardholder. By using these new services, the Cardholder agrees to be bound by the Terms and
Conditions applicable.
