2022 Australian Open

The 2022 Australian Open is a scheduled Grand Slam tennis tournament


2022 Australian Open
that will take place at Melbourne Park, from 17–30 January 2022.[1] It will be
the 110th edition of the Australian Open, the 54th in the Open Era, and the Date 17–30 January 2022
first Grand Slam of the year. The tournament will consist of events for Edition 110th

professional players in singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Junior and Open Era (54th)
wheelchair players will compete in singles and doubles tournaments. As in
previous years, the tournament's main sponsor is Kia. Category Grand Slam

Novak Djokovic and Naomi Osaka are the defending champions in Men's

Singles and Women's Singles, respectively. Djokovic, however, would be

unable to defend the title since his Australian visa was revoked after being
detained by the Australian Border Force on January 5, 2022 due to COVID- Venue Melbourne Park
19 vaccine requirement. While he had a medical exemption to the 2021 Champions
requirement, his visa class did not permit exemptions.[2][3]

edition of the tournament, held at Alfie Hewett / Gordon Reid

International Tennis Federation (ITF) Wheelchair Quad Doubles
and is part of the 2022 ATP Tour and the

Rod Laver Arena in 2013, where the 2022 WTA Tour calendars under the
Finals of the Australian Open take Grand Slam category. The tournament Davidson
place consists of both men's and women's Boys' Singles
singles and doubles draws as well as the Harold Mayot (2020)
mixed doubles events. There are singles Girls' Singles
and doubles events for both boys and girls (players under 18), which are part
of the Grade A category of tournaments. The junior competitions will be Victoria Jiménez Kasintseva
returned after a year of absence.[4] There are also singles, doubles and quad (2020)
events for men's and women's wheelchair tennis players as part of the NEC Boys' Doubles
tour under the Grand Slam category.

The tournament is played on hard courts and is taking place across a series of Leandro Riedi (2020)
25 courts, including the four main show courts of Rod Laver Arena, John Girls' Doubles
Cain Arena (formerly Melbourne Arena), Margaret Court Arena and 1573 Alex Eala / Priska Madelyn
Arena. It is also the debut of Show Court Arena, which now makes five main Nugroho (2020)
tennis arenas.
