"Try Again" is a simple, reflective and moralizing poem gleaned by the pen of a British poet,
William Edward Hickson. In this poem, the poet tells us the importance of trying again in case
we fail in doing something due to some adverse circumstances. The poet says that:
The speaker says if we fail in our first attempt, we should not get disappointed. We should
try again because then we will become courageous. As Hemmingway says:
"Man is not made for defeat. A man can be destroyed but not defeated."
If we persist because of this courage, we will conquer. The speaker admits that when we try
again, we may fail once or twice. However, if we keep on trying, we will succeed. If we do not
win a race, we should not give up trying again in shame. Moreover, if we find our task difficult
to accomplish, we should not lose heart. Time will bring us our fruit of labour. We can also do
what other people can do but it needs patience.
" People do not fail, they just stop trying” {Bud Boyd}
In short, this little poem gives us a big lesson. It gives us a message of hope, courage, hard
work, perseverance and optimism. We should always keep this message in mind to be crowned
with victory in our lives.
"A winner is just a loser who tried one more time."

'The Rain'
'The Rain' is a beautiful, symbolic and lovable poem gleaned by the pen of a Welsh poet,
William Henry Davies. He is known for his love for nature and his concern for the poor. The
poem, The Rain, is a beautiful poem on nature and natural scene. The poem is a musical play of
the rain, a great phenomenon of nature. The poem also carries symbolic meaning. The poet
says that he is hearing the rainfall on the rich leaves on the top. The upper leaves get the
raindrops first and quench their thirst. They are full of rain. The falling of raindrops on the tight,
stiff leaves on top creates sweet music.
When the rain stops, the sun will shine out with all of its wonderful light and illuminate every
dark drop. In the end, the poet hopes that the sun will shine brightly, which will be a lovely
sight.
The poem is also a metaphor. The rich leaves on the top symbolize the rich people in the
society who get the golden chance first and then whatever remains, pass down to the poor.
Rich people enjoy most of the blessings but they give a very little amount of alms to the poor.
"Some people feel the rain, others just get wet."
The sunshine also symbolizes the prevailing prosperity and happiness. The poet wants to
convey a strong message that:
Every dark cloud has a silver lining.
The poet hopes that the rain will stop and the sun will come out. Hence, the end of the poem is
quite optimistic. Here, the poet hopes that the day will come when the painful differences
between the rich and the poor will come to an end. There will prevail peace and equality in
society.
"It takes both rain and sunshine to make a rainbow. "

PEACE
When the wind is in a fierce mood, it is a monster of destruction. Like a monster it roars and
breaks things apart. It is so catastrophic that it completely destroys all man's work.
Everywhere its havoc is the same. It levels everything to the ground. In its rage it throws broken
things in the air whirling and flying.
The poetess says it is not its real nature. The truth is that it is usually peaceful when the sky is
bright blue. It is calm and quiet like whispers coming from far away. When it is calm and gentle,
it enlivens birds, buds and humans. It is a beautiful form of nature. The sounding cataracts, the
dancing winds, the smiling flowers and the lofty mountains are some example of this beautiful
nature. Nature can fill our lives with real joy, goodness and happiness. People usually do not
give any importance to this aspect of wind.
In short, the poem awakens a consciousness of soothing effect of wind in us that ultimately
subdues its evil power. It encourages us to appreciate peace, love and benevolence instead of
thinking about bad things or war. It gives us a lesson that we have to experience storms to
enjoy peace. It moralizes that a man who faces hardships of life courageously, is rewarded with
eternal peace.
