I. Instructions: Answer the following review questions:

1. Define recruitment and identify the various factors which affect recruitment.

-Recruitment makes it possible to acquire the number and types of people necessary to ensure the
continued operation of organization. It is the first stage in selection which makes the vaccines known to
a large number of people and the opportunities that the organization offers. There are six various
factors that affect the recruitment policy, organization budget and financials, recruitment policy of
competitors, job market conditions, specific needs of the organization, government regulations and
employment policy of government.

2. Discuss the steps of recruitment process. How will you reconcile the internal and external sources of
recruitment?

-There are five steps of recruitment, Recruitment Planning, Strategy Development, Searching, Screening
and Evaluation and Control. There are various method of how to reconcile internal, external sources of
recruitment one of them is to transfer the employees of organizations are transferred to the similar job
of other departments, next is to promotions and present employees. In external sources there are direct
recruitment, Casual Callers or Unsolicited Application, Media Advertisement, Employment Agencies,
Management Consultants, Educational Institutions or Campus Recruitment, Recommendations, Labor
Contractors, Telecasting and Raiding.

3. Discuss various sources of recruitment.

-Sources of job recruitment has two types, this is the Internal Sources and External Sources. In internal
sources there are three types; Transfer, Promotions and Present Employees. On the other hand in
external sources there are nine types; Direct Recruitment, Casual Callers, Media Advertisement,
Employment Agencies, Management Consultants, Educations Institutions, Recommendation, Labor
Contractors, Telecasting and Raiding.

4. Write short notes on following.

a. Advantages and disadvantages of internal sources of recruitment.

-DISADVANTAGES

1. It discourages capable persons from outside to join the concern.

2. It is possible that requisite number of persons possessing qualification for the recant post may not be
available in organization.

-ADVANTAGES

1. Improves morale

2. No errors

3. Promotes loyalty

4. No Hasty decision

5. Economy in training costs

6. Self- development

b. Advantages and disadvantages of external source of recruitment

-DISADVANTAGES

1. A limited understanding of the company

2. Time- Consuming

3. Internal disputes with existing employees

1. Fresher skill and output

3. Lesser internal politics


5. If you are the one in charge of recruitment what would you choose “traditional or online recruitment?
Why and why not?

If I were the one in charge of recruitment I would choose online recruitment in this situation now that
there is covid-19 and it is forbidden to interact for a long time with other people. Reason online
recruitment is easy nowadays Especially for millennial and Gen-Z because of the growth of social media
and this is the easy way to communicate Especially with employees but if I do not have covid-19 I will
also choose traditional recruitment because it allows you to personally see the employee who wants to
work in your company and how he can show his ability in the position he wants to enter

1. How valuable is the tradition of promotion from within and how disruptive will it be to deviate from
the tradition? What are the advantages and risks of promoting from within in this situation?

2. As a head of HR, how are you going to handle the problem of the incumbent production manager,
Mary Ann Escudero, considering she rose from the ranks because of exceptional performance records.

3. If the company decides to recruit from outside, what are the best external recruiting sources for
finding a new production manager?
