charts to show certain information. This chapter will show how to read these graphs and
charts.
▪ The three basic elements of graphs are title, labels and legend.
▪ The title will tell you what the diagram, chart, graph or table is about.
▪ The labels tell you what each part of the chart or graph is showing.
▪ You might also see a legend that will tell you what the symbols or colours represent.

TO: Mary J., Director of Lee Jones Company
FROM: Sharon K., Head of the R&D department
SUBJECT: Report on mobile networks

Here is the report on Chart A “It is good to talk” and Chart B “It’s only words”. Chart A shows
mobile phone calls to the UK from three other countries: ___________, ____________ and
__________. And Chart B shows the cost of sending text messages from these countries.

As you can see, __________ offers the cheapest calls from both Spain and the USA. But the
important thing to notice here is that ___________is much cheaper for calls from Australia. This is
an advantage for us because Australia is our most frequent destination.

If you look at the cost of text messaging, you can see that O2 is the cheapest from Spain and the
USA. But which is cheaper from Australia? Again Vodafone.

So- to summarise. Orange is the cheapest overall for international mobile phone calls. But –
Vodafone offers much cheaper calls from Australia.

So, in conclusion, I would recommend that we go with Vodafone.

B) Read the report again. Name each column according to the information provided.

It’s only words

!USEFUL PHRASES!
The PhotoArt TF2 has several advantages.
First of all / One advantages is that it offers excellent image quality.
Besides, / Moreover, / Another advantage is that it has many special features such as, video
recording and sound recording.
However, it has some disadvantages. For example, it is not a portable camera. It is very big
and heavy so, it is difficult to carry.
However, there is a slight disadvantage in that its menu is quiet complicated because it is
designed for professionals. In other words, it is not easy for amateur photographers to use.
If you are an amateur, The PhotoArt TF2 is not a good choice. I would recommend the Pixel
Tek 4000 because it is cheaper and easier to use. Also, it is only 219 g, you can take your
camera wherever you go.
If you are a professional photographer, I would recommend The PhotoArt TF2 because it
will definitely fulfill your expectations.
As you see, it is really expensive but it really worths every penny.
