Views in MS PowerPoint The views in PowerPoint 2010 are present under View Tab.

Various views in PowerPoint are:

• Normal view:
The Normal View is the default view wherein you build and design a presentation. This view is
divided into three working areas: Outline and Slides tabs pane on the left, slide pane on the
right, and notes page at the bottom.
O Outline tab
Switching to Outline tab in the Normal view displays only the text of the presentation in
outline form on the left. Using this view you can move the text from one slide to another.
O Slides Tab
Switching to Slides tab in the Normal view displays slides as thumbnails on the left while you
work the slide. Displaying slides as thumbnails let you easily navigate through various slides in
your presentation and view the effects of any changes made in the layout or design of the
presentation. You can add animation effects to the slide using this tab of the Normal view.
o Slide pane
The slide pane displays the currently selected slide in large view. It is in this pane that
you design slides by adding text, inserting pictures, tables, or charts.
o Notes pane
This pane lets you add notes relating to the contents present on a slide. These notes can be
used by presenter himself while delivering the presentation or distributed in printed form
to the audience.

• Slide sorter view: This view displays the entire set of slides in your presentation in miniature
form. It provides an overall view of your presentation. Using this view, you can rearrange the
order of slides, add and delete slides, preview transitions and animation effects on slides in your
presentation. You can also check for the timings set for the slide using this view.
• Slide show view: A slide show is the sequential display of slides in full screen mode. You can
check how the text, graphics and other elements such as animation of the slide in a presentation
will actually look like, in the slide show.
• Notes page view: This view is available only from the View Tab. The notes added in the notes
pane of the normal view can be seen in the Notes page view. Each notes page displays an image of
a slide, along with the notes related to that slide. You can print the note page to give it to
audience for explanation purposes.
• Master Views: Slide, Notes, Handout: They are the main slides that store information about
the presentation, including background, color, fonts, effects, placeholder sizes and positions. The
key benefit to working in a master view is that on the slide master, notes master, or handout
master, you can make universal style changes to every slide, notes page, or handout associated
with your presentation.
Slide Layout

pictures etc on a slide. You can add animation to slides by using the Animations Tab. Some of

you choose Insert tab >”Media clips” Group->Movie or Sound.

Adding Pictures:
To insert pictures on the slide, you select Insert tab->Illustrations Group->Picture or
Insert tab->Illustrations Group-> Online Pictures

Grouping and Ungrouping Objects

When you group objects, you combine them so you can work with them as though they were a single
object. You can flip, rotate, and resize or scale all objects in a group as a single unit. You can also
change the attributes of all objects in a group at one time— for example, you might change
the fill color or add a shadow to all objects in the group.
You can ungroup a group of objects at any time and then regroup them later.

Adding Header and footer

You can use Headers and footers option to display similar text, slide or page number, or date at the
top or bottom of your slides or notes and handouts. To add header and footer, you choose Insert
tab, under the “text Group” select Header & Footer option.

Adding Slide Number

Just like you have page numbers for books, it is usually a good idea to add slide numbers to
presentations. To add slide, you choose Insert tab, under the “text Group” select Slide number
option.

Adding Background
You can change the background color or background design on slides by choosing the Format
Background option under the Design tab.

Hyperlink
In Microsoft PowerPoint, a hyperlink is a connection from a slide to another slide, a custom show,
a Web page, or a file. To create hyperlinks, you select the text and choose Insert tab-> choose
Hyperlink option from the Links group.

Watermark
A watermark is a faded background image that displays behind the text in a document. You can use
them to indicate a document’s state (confidential, draft, etc.), add a subtle company logo, or even for
a bit of artistic flair. PowerPoint doesn’t have a built-in watermark feature like Word, but you can
still add them with a text box.
Custom Shows
In PowerPoint, you can use a single presentation for a variety of audiences by creating custom shows
within it. This saves you the effort of duplicating a whole presentation, saving it as a new file, and
modifying it to suit a new audience.
Custom shows are created from slides that you group together within your presentation. You can
group slides into as many different custom shows as you like. You name each custom show, and when
you give the presentation, you select the custom show that you want for a particular audience.

To create Custom show, you use Slide Show->Start Slide Show group->Custom Slide Show.
