1. What two famous definitions of Yoga are given in the Bhagavad Gita?
2. Briefly describe the three kinds of dukha/pain.
3. Name each guna and briefly describe any one.
Gunas are the attributes of prakriti due to which the universe keeps changing . the gunas are
the feelings/ emations felt in the universe . There are three types of gunas
Sattva guna, Rajas guna and tamas guna . These gunas are intermingled in each person which
makes up the nature or prakriti of a person . the most dominant guna describes the nature or
kind of mentality a person possess .
Sattva gunas :
Symbol of purity , calmness happiness, containment, goodness,
People with sattva guna as dominating prakriti are always positive , enlightened , mindful
they practice non-voilence and are open to welcoming other with whole heartedness .
Sattvic people attract sattvic food . they eat freshly cooked meals, fruits, vegetables, less
spicy and easy to digest foods . They eat on time , exercise regularly , sleep on time and be
positive . They practice Dharma, They are intelligent .
The color that denotes sattva guna is white ,
4. What does dharma mean?
Ans: Dharma means responsibility, harmony, duty
Those who follow Dharma do the activity even if they don’t feel like doing it . They set
priorites in life , they do thing based on the time bonded activities , punctual , righteous ways
, non- violence , Dharma can be incorporated in clam and stable mind through meditation .
sitting in a proper meditative pose can help in training the mind to follow dharma .
A trained and disciplined mind always allows a person to follow the path of Dharma as the
mind can think clearly and take decisions easily . Yamas and Niyamas are also a part of
disciplined mind .

5. What are the five layers/dimensions of the human being called? Choose one layer and briefly
describe it.
Ans : The five layers of a human being is called as the panch kosha
1. The physical body – Annumayakosha
2. The energy body – Paranamayakosha
3. The mental body – Manumayakosha
4. The Intellect body- vigyanmayakosha
5. The bliss body- Anandamayakosha
The mental body – manumayakosha is the mind of the body . there are three parts of this kosha.
The conscious mind
The unconscious mind
And the subconscious mind
1. The conscious mind is the one with which we feel , see experience things and gather
information of the outer world . The information collect by this mind is filtered ,
distorted and stored in subconscious mind for future use or references .
2. The subconscious mind is the one which stores the memories in the form of visual, audio
or kinesthetic forms . the subconscious mind is active even when we sleep. These
memories can be recovered when ever required .
3. The unconscious mind is the one which keeps working non stop 24 X 7 it is responsible
for the working of body even when we sleep . we breath, the heart pumping , the other
systems working like digestion , elimination of waste from body, repairing of body on
regular basis and after any diseases .
Yoga helps in keeping this kosha active for a better life and longitivity .

6. Name the six shatkarmas and their areas of cleanse. Choose one and briefly describe it.
Ans: the practice of shatkarmas helps in balancing the five elements of the body
Neti- cleansing of nasal passage
Dhuti- throrax cleansing
Nauli- internal organs cleansing
Kapalbhati- frontal lobe cleansing
Tratak- mind and frontal lobe

Basti – large intestine cleansing


Kapalbhati : this pranayama helps in cleansing of the mind by normal inhalation and forced
exhalation through nostrils . the mouth is kept closed all the time .
Reduces stress,
Reduces migraines
prevents hair fall and allows new hair growth
Cure digestive and respiratory problems like asthma and lung issues
