I. TITLE Engaging Generation Z Learners in the New Normal through
ThinkTok: A Learning Action Cell for Teachers

II. RATIONALE

For educators, student engagement is an ongoing concern because of its

positive association with deep learning and educational outcomes (Northey, Bucic,
Chylinski & Govind, 2015). How students perform and what teachers do intersect,
making teachers a critical factor for determining student success (Harbour,
Evanovich, Sweigart & Hughes, 2015). Therefore, if teachers use innovative
methods, they increase the probability that they will successfully engage students in
learning.
Today, student engagement is a challenge for teachers. With the coronavirus
disease pandemic of 2019 (COVID-19), teachers are prompted to continue
delivering instruction through distance learning. Teachers continue to search for
creative ways on how to maintain the interest of students, increase their curiosity,
and awaken their desire for a deep understanding of important learning concepts
with the advent of different learning modalities.
In the desire to challenge more teachers to innovate as they continue to
deliver instructions remotely, this school has conducted a Webinar on Engaging
Generation Z Learners in the New Normal through ThinkTok: A Learning Action Cell
for Teachers last January 6, 2022.

III. OBJECTIVES

This training is primarily designed to equip teachers on how to use ThinkTok

as an innovative strategy in engaging their Generation Z Learners in this new normal
time. Specifically, it aims for the participants to:

1. Determine the distinct characteristics and behavior of Generation Z learners;

2. Identify the three important stages of ThinkTok; and
3. Prepare and present a ThinkTok Lesson Guide.
