Questions and answers:
1. Choose three ( 3) events from the early life of Jesus, how
did Joseph and Mary perform their role as the Mother and
foster father of Jesus?
• The virgin Mary is told she'll give birth to Jesus
• Joseph and Mary register to Bethlehem in Judea where Jesus
was born.
• Mary and Joseph took the baby Jesus to the Temple in
Jerusalem forty days after his birth
o Mary was a noble woman from whom Jesus would obtain a
body of flesh and blood. Joseph, a gentle and spiritual man,
was given the task of keeping an eye on and caring for the
baby Jesus. They played their roles like a typical parent
would do to their child to Jesus. As for Joseph, despite the
fact that Jesus is not his own son and is the son of God, he
willingly obeyed God to took care Jesus as his true son.
Questions and answers:
2. From the three events you have chosen, what are the attitudes
they have shown in performing their role as Mother and foster father
of Jesus?
• It is crucial to know that Mary is Jesus' earthly mother and that
Joseph is Mary's spouse. In respect to their attitudes as Jesus'
parents, they are compassionate and obedient. When the angel
Gabriel came to visit Mary and told her she was pregnant and
would give birth to the Messiah, she was delighted. Though she
was only young, she responded to this with belief and
obedience. Well, Joseph, the man entrusted with the care of
God's child, is a righteous man. As a foster father of Jesus, yes, he
has the rights to feel disgraced knowing that Jesus is not his own
but he did not want to cause Mary further shame, so he decided
to act quietly. Despite the public humiliation he would endure,
Joseph willingly obeyed God. Perhaps this was because of this
great trait that God chose him to be the earthly father of Jesus.
Questions and answers:
3. What are the three temptations of Jesus?
a) Satan tempted him to break his fast and turn
rocks into bread
b) Satan tempted him to jump off the roof of the
temple in Jerusalem. He said that because Jesus
was the Son of God, the angels would save him.
c) Satan tempted Jesus to worship him in return for
rule over all the kingdoms in the world
Questions and answers:
4. How are prayer , fasting and alms giving correlate with Jesus’
temptations?
• If you're a Catholic, you've undoubtedly heard that you should
pray, fast, and give alms at least once in your life. The Church
emphasizes these three traditional acts of piety above all others,
especially during Lent. We cultivate virtues that directly fight the
sins we're tempted to do through praying, fasting, and giving
alms, and these sins are connected to Jesus' three temptations
(Lust of flesh, Lust of the eyes, and Pride of life) during his 40 days
in desert. Yes, there are number of reasons why we should
engage all the three(pray, fast, give alms), but one of them is
they help us resist the three principle forms of temptation that
Jesus encountered.
