Do not operate or work on this product unless you have read

and understood the instruction and warnings in the relevant
Operation and Maintenance Manuals and relevant service
literature. Failure to follow the instructions or heed the warnings
could result in injury or death. Proper care is your responsibility.

The following recommendations on the operating techniques for various conditions can improve the transmission shift quality on the machines
listed above:

Do not use the transmission inching pedal to make sequential upshifts or downshifts.

Avoid using the transmission inching pedal during higher speed directional shifts. Harsh or delayed shifts may occur which may interrupt and
override the automatic shifting routine

Perform all manual shifts above FOURTH FORWARD and THIRD REVERSE (Considered as machines roading gears) at or above 1600 rpm
engine speed.

Maintain a constant throttle pedal setting or use "Throttle hold" to improve manual shift performance and reduce variability.

Use the transmission inching pedal for the following functions

To allow smooth engagement when selecting your initial gear or when coming to a stop during directional shifts

To improve precision during high controllability and maneuverability situations

To disengage power to the wheels.

Autoshift Recommendation
Though autoshift can be operated in all gears, autoshift is ideally recommended for roading gears 5F-8F.

To avoid harsh downshifts during autoshift, it is best to set minimum autoshift gear as high as possible to either 5F or 4F.

4F-5F Shifting Information

Engine speed will decrease during the shift, in response to the shift torque management feature.

The shift torque management feature limits the torque during a shift to ensure consistent power to the ground and limits shift harshness.

The 4F-5F shift is expected to be more aggressive due to double clutch shift, high transmission step ratio, and movement between the low range
and the high range clutch on the transmission output shaft.

Underspeed Shifts (5F-3F)

The following recommendation is applicable to all Motor Graders, except M1 Series Motor Graders.

5F-3F downshifts will trigger as a result of underspeed protection if engine speed drops below 799 rpm and engine torque is above a certain
threshold. To avoid unexpected shifts, keep the engine speed above 1100 rpm -1200 rpm. Engine "Throttle hold" mode can be used to set the
bottom engine speed.

Note: Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Operator Controls" to understand the engine "Throttle hold" mode switch for your machine.

Troubleshooting Procedure
If shift performance seems abnormal compared to other machines or is unacceptable and further troubleshooting is required, follow the below steps
until a solution is found:

1. Verify that the transmission oil level is filled.

2. Ensure that the software is updated.

3. Perform the "Fill Time for the Transmission Clutch- Calibrate".

4. Check the oil type configuration in Cat® Electronic Technician (ET) and ensure that the oil type matches with oil type used in the transmission.
The oil type configuration will impact cold oil temperature shifting.
If cold temperature shift quality still does not improve when selecting the matching oil type, a different oil type can be selected to attempt to
improve shift quality.

5. Replace the control valves on clutches involved with harsh shifting. Whenever a clutch control valve is replaced, perform the "Fill Time for the
Transmission Clutch- Calibrate".

6. Check the "Power Train Charge System Pressure - Test and Adjust". If pressure is out of specification or on the low end of specification, set
pressure to upper end of specification.

7. Check the transmission suction screen and differential screen for debris/clutch material.
