meaning, sound, and rhythm.

Before we move on to our lesson lets sing a song titled (The student will stand up and will sing the action song)
"The Tree Parts Song"

(sing to the tune of “Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes”)

Now we will discuss about poem

What is poem?

A poem is a piece of writing in which the words are


chosen for their beauty and sound and are carefully
arranged, often in short lines which rhyme.

parts of a poem’s structure:

· Line- Each row of text is a line, and there are 12 rows


of text on the given example. Lines are important in
poetry because some types of poems depend on the
number of lines in them.

· Stanza- division of a poem consisting of a series of lines


arranged together in a usually recurring pattern of
meter and rhyme. In the example their are Six stanzas
in total, the first and sixth complimenting one another,
whilst stanzas two through five are detailing the
personification—tree as human, or with human traits
and attributes—the stanzas flowing along on the
commas.

· Meter- is a stressed and unstressed syllabic pattern in


a verse or within the lines of a poem that adds structure
and musicality.

"Trees" is a poem of twelve lines in strict iambic


tetrameter. The eleventh, or penultimate, line inverts
the first foot, so that it contains the same number of
syllables, but the first two are a trochee.

· Rhyme Scheme -the arrangement of rhymes in a


stanza or a poem

The rhyme scheme of "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer is


aa/bb/cc/dd/ee/aa.

· Line Break- A line break is the termination of one line


of poetry, and the beginning of a new line. Some
additional key details about line breaks.

In the Trees By Joyce Kilmer the poem does not come to


an end at a line break; instead, it moves over the next
line.
