"A Republic Act drastic as the Rizal law, which requires the study of Rizal's life and works — something
that does not need to be required in the first place — can only be born out of the fact that Rizal and his
works were not given a high priority in the educational system of the country prior to the release of the
act." [ It's clear that the government had to make drastic changes to resolve this issue]

• Section 3, legalizing all forms of translations for Rizal's works [as well as in...]
• Section 2, obligating all schools, colleges and universities to keep an adequate number of copies of
Rizal's works.

[There were important points that the author cited in this Republic Act that is worth noticing. First,]
"Whereas, today, more than other period of our history, there is a need for a rededication to the ideals
of freedom and nationalism for which our heroes lived and died."
[ This document was written in the year 1956 during Magsaysay's regime when our country was still
recovering from the Japanese occupation and still very dependent on US government. Therefore, ideals
of freedom and nationalism were very essential during those times since our country was still struggling
for independence]

[During our educational years, especially in college is when we formulate our priorities and career tracks
in life, and it is very important that institutions make us realize that the country should be a part of our
responsibilities. Ika nga, "serve the country first". Also, it is the institution's responsibility to embed to us
a profound authentic moral character and a strong sense of personal discipline because "ang mga
kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan."

"The board of National Education shall cause the translation of the Noli Me Tangere and Wl
Filibusterismo, as well as other writings of Jose Rizal into English, Tagalog and the Principal Philippine
dialects; cause then to be printed in cheap, popular editions; and caused them to be distributed, free of
charge, to persons desiring to read them, through the purok organizations and the Barrio Councils
throughout the country."
[It makes the goal very SMART - specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and time-bound. It is
important that the effect of this act would be experienced by all students sven those who are financially
troubled...]
Cha
[Right. And it is commendable that in the context of this act, the poor is well represented and that it is
attainable regardless of ethnicity, social stature, and language barrier.]

[Very well said. In Deped Order no. 6, s. 1995, it was reiterated the implementation of the RA 1425]
"It is hoped that teaching Rizal's life, shall strengthen nationalism, patriotism, national identity, love of
humanity, respect for human rights and appreciation of the role of national heroes in the historical
development of the country."
Cha
[Through this course, we will be able to look back from the days our great heroes fought for our
freedom and independence. We'll be able to know more about our history and our culture.]
