The gathering of fossils or artifacts is important because it provides evidence and a record for research that there is an actual existence of life. The discovered fossils are the remnants of earlier creatures who were utilized to uncover the past 2. The first mass is a significant event in Philippine history specifically in Philippine Christianity's history because it marked the birth of Roman Catholicism in the Philippines. Over the years, Filipinos have assimilated Catholicism given the extent to which it influences everyday Filipino life and has become a cultural attribute. 3. Between the theories about the Filipino people, which do you think is more acceptable: Beyer’s Wave of Migration or Jocano’s Core population Theory? Since it was stated that there is no definite evidence, archaeological or historical, to support Beyer's Wave of Migration theory, I prefer Jocano's Core Population Theory over Beyer's Wave of Migration. The discovery of a skullcap and a piece of a jaw in the Tabon Caves of Palawan, which are thought to be of human origin, proves Jocano argues that man arrived in the Philippines before the Malay Peninsula, thus the earliest people of our islands could not have originated there. According to him, the only thing that can be established with certainty from fossil evidence is that the earliest men who arrived in the Philippines also travelled to New Guinea, Java, Borneo, and Australia which disputes Beyer’s belief that Filipinos descended from Negritoes and Malays who migrated to the Philippines thousands of years ago. 4.
