Importance of mental health : Mental health is one of the most overlooked topics which is very
disappointing. People don’t pay attention to their mental status and mental well being. Our mental
health affects how we handle stress, relate to one another and make decisions. And mental health
influences the way individuals look at themselves, their lives and others in their lives. Like physical
health, mental health is important at every stage of life. Individuals often struggle alone trying to
function in socially acceptable ways while secretly fighting inner “demons.” Others more openly
exhibit signs and symptoms of mental illness. Individuals are not always aware of or do not
acknowledge mental illness and so do not willingly seek treatment. Here are some ways as to
how you can check you are mentally ill
. Changes in work habits. Often, changes in work habits are chalked up to poor
performance, when the root cause is actually a mental health concern. Lack of
motivation, difficulty concentrating or lower-than-normal productivity isn’t necessarily a
performance management issue, so it’s important to avoid jumping to conclusions.
2. Changes in physical appearance. If a coworker who typically arrives for work
immaculately groomed starts regularly violating your dress code policy by showing up
unkempt in a holey sweatshirt, it could be an indication that they’re having difficulty
coping.
3. Changes in demeanour. Dramatic changes in personality or demeanour can indicate
mental health struggles. Exhibiting excessive nervousness, restlessness, or irritability;
seeming passive, worried, tense or acting in unusual ways are all changes to look out
for.
4. Increased tardiness. When an employee who’s usually on time starts showing up late,
missing meetings, or calling in sick more often, it could be a sign of a mental health
disorder. Physical complaints, aches and pains, excessive fatigue, or just seeming
generally “draggy” can be signs associated with depression and anxiety.
5. Outbursts and mood swings. A lack of control of emotion, outbursts and mood swings
could be associated with mental illness. Does an employee seem unable to deal with the
little things? Disruptive behaviour, flouting rules, or acting overly aggressive can all be
mental illness red flags.
6. Seeming withdrawn or avoiding interaction. An unwillingness to communicate, seeming
withdrawn, avoiding social situations, self-imposed isolation, or retreating from
interactions with others can be a sign of mental illness. If a co-worker seems to avoid
engaging socially with other team members, it could be cause for concern.
Qotes: It's ok to feel sad, down, or even upset. But, don't let those
feelings inhibit your ability to grow and live. We have to look forward,
always.
Sometimes, looking back to the past is pretty good for learning
something from it, but you have to remember that life keeps moving.
We can't just live in the circle of past.
Sharing what you feel can help you to stay in good mental health
when you feel troubled. It also can be a good way to cope with a
problem that you've been carrying around your head all this time.
Don't blame yourself if you make a mistake. Mistakes are also the part
of our lives. We can't live without making mistakes.
Visualization
Benefit: This method is useful for goal-setters as it can help you
achieve what you visualize.
Visualization is not just hype; new research is discovering that our brain is
quite visual. We can stimulate parts of the brain by merely visualizing
ourselves doing something, without actually lifting a finger. You can close your
eyes and imagine yourself in a beautiful garden with a freshwater stream and
butterflies, smelling like roses. And your brain will respond like it’s actually
there, helping you get into a good mood. And that’s exactly what we tap into in
visualization meditation. By imagining beautiful scenes or creating positive
visions of our future, we can relax and motivate ourselves.
3. Progressive Relaxation
Benefit: This method is excellent to manage work-related stress and
has also been found useful in insomnia.
This is a powerful stress management technique where different body parts
are first tensed up and then relaxed slowly. This practice is ideal in a lying
down position. You contract specific muscles as you inhale, hold the breath as
you continue to contract those muscles, and then immediately relax as you
exhale. This technique is also used in Kriya Yoga to prepare for meditation as it
puts us in a deeply relaxed state.
4. Yoga Nidra
Benefit: Yoga Nidra particularly helps unlock creativity.
This is a guided meditation technique in which you enter a sleep-like state. It
takes you into the state of neither being awake nor asleep, the elusive in-
between step. A teacher guides you into this state with a series of instructions,
and the ability to hold our awareness in that state is said to reduce stress,
depression, anxiety.
2) Be physically active
1)do work with ur non dominant hand: Your dominant hand is hooked up to the
opposite side of your brain. Your trusty right hand, for instance, is connected to
your left side of the brain. So, it’s only natural that you’ll feel clumsy using your non-
dominant hand. this simple exercise can help build new connections between brain
cells, increasing your creativity and making you more open minded. In addition,
using the non-dominant hand can help your brain to integrate the two hemispheres
better.
2) Draw ur thoughts:
3) try some Yoga asanas to improve concentration:
