Rhodes is the largest of the Dodecanese islands and is also
the island group's historical capital. Rhodes has been

of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
Culture
Greece is home to Cycladic civilization on the islands of
the Aegean Sea at around 3200 BC, the Minoan
civilization in Crete and then the Mycenaean
civilization on the mainland (1600–1100 BC).
The ancient Olympic Games, dated to 776 BC, were a
series of athletic competitions among athletes of city-
states and one of the Panhellenic Games of Ancient
Greece. They were held in honor of Zeus.
Classical Greece was a period of political and cultural
success, which lasted around 200 years (the 5th and 4th
centuries BC). It brought the modern world the system
known as “democracy”.
The Byzantine period existed from 395 CE to 1453.
During that period there were built city
walls, palaces, hippodromes, bridges,
aqueducts, but most importantly, churches. Its impact
