or family. When I think of vacation, if think of relaxation and getting closer to the people
that go with you and family. Every year my family and I go to visit Miami, Florida. I
always go the week of spring break since my school’s vacation for spring break is in
March. March is the time of year when I travel to Florida because it is still cold in
Connecticut with snow on the ground, ice on the sidewalks and every other day a
Connecticut can be weird where you can experience all seasons Fall, Winter, Spring
and Summer within one week or even in a day!! This time my grandfather had asked me
if I would want to go to Florida with them. When they asked me, I thought they were
kidding, but when they said, “I need to know because if you are I need to get you an
airplane ticket.” When they said this, I knew they were serious, and I was excited I was
going to Florida to visit my grandparents and family. The whole week before the trip I
had begun packing. I did not realize how many things I was going to need until I started
packing. I packed two suitcases full of clothes and when I was finished packing my mom

go to Florida to get away from the twenty-one-degree temperature and blistering wind-
chill that has been going on the past week and to see my grandparents and family. I had
a feeling that this trip was going to be a memorable one. I packed my suitcase into the
car right away, so I did not have to grab it in the morning. The next day my family and I
woke up got in the car and were on our way to the airport to drop me off. I was looking
out of the car window from the passenger seat staring up at the sky and saw the clouds.
I turned to my family and said I have a feeling that it is going to start to snow. My mom
who was driving fast and trying to get us to the airport on time as we were running a
little behind said, “it is not going to snow! they can never predict the weather correctly so
do not worry it will not snow and there will not be a delay.” I turned to her and said OK
we will see! We got 5 exits up from where we needed to be and well and behold it
started to snow, coming down hard with big white flakes hitting the windshield and
sticking to the road. I was watching the snowflakes fall and kept thinking I hope the flight
does not get delayed and I am able to fly out to Florida today.
We arrived at the airport got out of the car and grabbed my suitcase from the
back of the car and headed straight for security check. I had my boarding pass in hand
ready to go through security. After security check and going through the scanner, I
looked at the screen for departures of flight to see if the flight to Miami was delayed or
canceled. I found the flight and it said ON Time, not delayed, I was surprised and happy
that the snowstorm did not delay the flight. As I was looking at the departure list, I saw
outside the double glass window the snow stopped and there was not a lot of snow on

the ground. I arrived at the gate and still had some time to spare until the airport staff
Finally, it was time to start boarding and I gave the airport staff my boarding
pass. I was walking so fast down the tunnel to the plane to find my seat and prepare for
the 3hr flight to Miami. I remember everyone boarding the plane and the flight
attendants were doing the safety procedure talk. I was not paying attention to the safety
talk as I heard this multiple times when I go on vacation with my family. I had the seat
near the window so I was staring out the window and as the plane was starting and
doing its pre-flight check, I heard a noise and instantly knew that something broke on
the plane and that the plane would be delayed. Well within minutes the captain came on
and said, “there is going to be a delay, a part on the plane is not working and our staff is
working to fix the part quickly.” It was about an 1hr after the captain said the mechanics
will fix the part and I was tired of sitting in the seat so I decided to take a walk up the
aisle of the plane and as I did this, I overheard them say the part will be fixed within 45
minutes. I rushed back to my seat and said, “the plane will take off in 45 minutes I heard
the captain say it should be ready!” Forty-five minutes went by, and the pre-flight check
of the plane was being done and I was anxiously waiting for the announcement that we
are ready for take-off. Well, it came true the plane was ready for take-off and after being
delayed for 1hr and 45 minutes I was 3hrs away to land in Miami and enjoy my vacation
with my grandparents and other family members. I closed my eyes fell asleep and next
thing I hear is welcome to Miami the weather is 85 degrees, sunny with a slight breeze.
I got off the plane, left the airport and waited for my grandparents to pick me up
from the airport they arrived in a blue, chevy Cruz car, and we were off to their place to

meet up with some other family members. My grandparents’ house is not far from the
beach and downtown area of Miami. After a long day of traveling and delays I arrived
later than usual, and I was able to meet up with my cousins that night. We planned out
the next couple of days I was in Miami we will go to the beach and downtown Miami. It
was still hot out at night and the AC running I was lying in bed thinking of how much fun
we will have together at the beach and to feel the warmth of the sun shining down and
not be back in Connecticut where it just snowed and the cold temperatures.
I woke up to the smell of cinnamon buns and walk into the kitchen and see the
kitchen table prepared with food and ready to dig in and start our cousin beach day at
Miami Beach. I slipped into my bathing suit, got dressed and was ready to head to the
beach. I packed my tote bag with some tanning oil, cover up, water, food, and a towel
for the beach. I met up with my cousin Mike and Kayla and we were headed off to the
beach to go jet skiing and get some color. We arrived at Miami Beach walked on to the
blistering hot white sandy beach and searched for a spot where we can settle and put
our stuff for the day. I noticed there was a kiosk to the far-right side where you can rent
aquatic toys like jet ski, banana boats, and parasailing. I told my cousin Mike and Kayla
we should go and try this it would be so much fun. My cousin Mike who is 6’2 athletic
build, brown haired, and blue eyes shouted in excitement, “we should rent jet skis and
have a water race!”. My other cousins Kayla who is 5’4 medium build, curly brown hair
and brown eyes said “LAST ONE there pays for dinner!! I ran as fast I could to beat my
cousin Mike but of course he got there first as he is faster than me. At least I was not
last like my cousin Kayla who now must pay for dinner. We went to the kiosk paid for
our 2-hour jet ski rental. While the attendant was getting the jet skis ready I was getting

undressed and applying my tanning oil to get a nice tan when I come back from Florida.
I hopped on to the jet ski and raced off into the crystal-clear blue ocean. As we were
riding around, we started to see some dolphins that were chasing and following us. It
was such an amazing experience to see dolphins so close. I thought they were only
local in the Caribbean. We had a lot of fun out in the water the jet skiing and I even won
one of the races. I could not believe our time in the water was coming to an end and I
was starting to get hungry. We docked the jet skis and returned our vest and headed
back to our spot on the beach and by this time, I was starving and ready to go eat.
Spending a full day in the sun really does take a beating on your body.
Mike left to get the car and we were off to downtown Miami for some dinner. I told
Mike that I had made plans already for dinner and they were at Gianni’s at the former
Versace Mansion on Ocean Drive. We pulled up to Gianni’s and see this exquisite
terracotta style mansion that has white marble and palm trees in the front. My cousins
and I walked in an awe and how breath taking the scenery is and gave the waiter our
name so we can be seated. Even with prior reservations we still had to encounter a 45
minute wait. Needless to say, the wait was well worth it, the food was phenomenal, and
we even had desert and all thanks to Kayla the one who got to the jet skis last. While
we ate dinner we got to catch up and find things about each other that we did not know.
We left Giannis and drove back to my grandparents’ house where I could not wait to get
into bed and relax from a beautiful day with my cousins. Throughout the week in Florida,
I got to do things with my grandparents that brought us closer than before. In a blin of
an eye my vacation was over and I was at the airport boarding a flight back home to

Connecticut and leaving behind the breeze and strong rays of sun. I was not happy
a lot of things from this vacation, such as that even though you go by yourself to visit
family members experiencing flying by yourself makes you nervous but excited. I also
learned that you must always be prepared and expect the unexpected. This vacation
