Introduction
Models “AFT-2”, “ART-2”, “HFT-2” and “HRT-2”
Equalizing Check Valves are flow control devices
designed to prevent downward flow while allowing
flow from below; therefore, allowing the operator to
perform various jobs with the equalizing check
valve.
Features/Benefits
• Holds pressure from above, but not below
• Locked into the seating nipple to prevent
upward movement
• Differential pressure is held by the locking
dogs, not the No-Go shoulder
• Equalizing accomplished by opening bypass
ports during retrieval
• Run and retrieved using standard wireline
tools, or run in with the tubing
• Ball is made out of tungsten carbide to prevent
any damage due to sand or sediment in the well

oil such as “STP” on all threads. Use a strap-type Assembly Drawing No. 333-930
wrench to make up all parts. Be sure to remove all
burrs that may cause the check valve to hang up in
the production string.
1. Using C-ring pliers, slide C-ring (14) over lower
end of Dog Expander (11) until it locates in its
proper groove.
2. Install O-ring (21) on lower end of Dog Expand-
er (11).
3. Install O-rings (9) in their proper grooves at the
upper end of Dog Expander (11).
4. Install O-ring (7) on Ball Seat (6).
5. Install Ball Seat (6) in Dog Expander (11).
NOTE: The Ball Seat (6) is designed so that it will fit
in the Dog Expander (11) in either direction.
6. Install Locking Dogs (12) into windows on Lock Dimensional Data
Mandrel (15). Refer to Drawing No. 333-930.
