INTRODUCTION
MICE events refer to business-oriented events such as meetings, conferences and exhibitions
arranged or held in the course of business with more than 50 participants which are not held for
individual consumers or for employees of a single business entity to attend. MICE is comprises
of four event subfields. They are Meetings, Incentive Travel, Conferences and Conventions, and
Exhibitions.
In some countries, MICE is called Business Events. As the Incentive Travel is removed and
delegated to Travel and Tour Operators or Destination Management Companies (DMC).
Permitted enterprise may proceed to organize the event and adhere to the Safe Management
Measures (SMMs) at the Workplace by the Ministry of Manpower. Events that are substantially
social, recreational, political or religious in character, such as networking events or gala dinners,
do not fall within the MICE events contemplated here. MICE is an important success area of
Tourism and Trade. MICE attendees contribute 7x to the economy of the host country or city.
Apart from bringing industry counterparts together, MICE tourism helps in synergizing ideas and
increasing sales and revenues. Not only this, MICE industry is also a service industry, which
encompasses transportation, sales, finance, and travel.
Last November 20, 2021 the 4D Mice management class webinar was conducted via zoom
which has a lot of invited audience in different places. There are three speakers invited to teach
us the expertise in their different field that will surely help us. The webinar presents selected
knowledge about the changes of our industry. The objective of the webinars served both to learn
and to receive feedbacks and gather more information and improvements for future work in the
Hospitality Industry. The webinar was started from the back ground of what really the student
and speaker wants to share and that is about Rebuilding and Strengthening the Tourism and
Hospitality in the New Normal. In this webinar, we learned that there are many helpful ways to
help our industry.
The first Speaker Dir. Fanibeth T. Domingo (Regional Director, Department of Tourism
REGION II) shared all the information that she has about all practices about the rebuilding and
strengthening in our Industry The second Speaker Mr. Mark John Arelliano (Operations
Manager of BALAI CARMELA) also gave his expertise about Trends that Hospitality and
Tourism are facing today because of COVID19 pandemic, and the last speaker Mr. Antonell A.
Albano (President/Founder of AHTHOMP, taught us what are the different Digital Technologies
trasforming Tourism and Hospitality in Response of covid crisis. The webinar was attended by

200 participants plus 3presenters. The appendix provides an overview of the geographical and
organizational background and the expectations of the participants. The webinar was structured
in an introduction with polls and questions to find out more about participants; four
presentations, each followed by Q&A; a panel discussion with the presenters; and a chat-based
feedback collection from all participants. This report presents a summary of the presentations
and evaluates the discussions and feedback from participants collected through Q&A on the
presentations, the panel discussion and chat boxes dedicated to specific questions around the
topic of “REBUILDING AND STRENGTHENING THE TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY IN
THE NEW NORMAL” and the contents of the webinar.
MICE events are held by gathering a large number of people in one coordinate to acquire or
carry out a specific activity or event. MICE can host not only business meetings or conferences,
but also incentive programs. The participants are rewarded for their outstanding performance and
participation in this, such as certificates of recognition for the speakers and also for the
participants for a webinar hosted by us students guided by an adviser. In addition, a conference is
cooperative meeting for discussion as opposed to a meeting, which is usually of limited duration
with specific objectives just like what we did on our MICE subject, we came up with the event
entitled "Rebuilding and Strengthening the Tourism and Hospitality in the New Normal," a
webinar that conveys relevant information about our industry in terms adjustments. The webinars
were designed to help participants learn as well as receive feedback and gather more information
and suggestions for future work in the hospitality industry. We have invited 3 excellent speakers
which was successfully shared their knowledge to us and to all the participants. We must
conclude that our event is a success because we all did our best to make it successful even if
there's a lot of problems occur during the webinar, but we work under pressure that is why until
the end we finish it will all smiles in our faces and being proud of ourselves because we did our
part in making our participants learn something about our event that they can use for their future
career paths.

CONCLUSIONS
Webinars have boomed in popularity as a powerful learning tool, not only for marketers
but also for schools and universities as means to send information to students and customers.
For educators, webinars are the best way to reach and engage students. No classroom
required. For students, they get to learn from the comfort of their own homes. Due to the
pandemic, colleges and universities have transitioned to distanced learning. So, as we said,
webinars as a learning tool have surged in popularity.
Our department, College of Hospitality Management, uses educational webinars for all
occasions—from educating potential students to onboarding new students and also hosting
virtual events. Since webinars are online events, it is very convenient for both presenter and
attendee as we can host and attend webinars right from the comfort of our office (or home.) As
we conduct our webinar entitled “Rebuilding Tourism and Hospitality Industry: Response,
Recovery, and Resilience to New Normal'' anchored on the theme, “Rebuilding and
Strengthening the Tourism and Hospitality in the New Normal: Transforming for a Better
Industry”, we find it challenging because it's our first time conducting a virtual seminar wherein,
we need to invest so much of our time, effort and knowledge for the preparation. During the
webinar, the flow of the program went smoothly. And what makes our webinar effective is that,
we didn't encounter much technical difficulties. The three resource speakers delivered their topic
smoothly and all the questions given by the three resource speakers were answered by the
participants. So, we are grateful that we made it successfully and conducted it smoothly. We're
also gratified for everyone who was part of the webinar for the reason that they we're so
cooperative and determined to finish every task that was assigned to each other. and after all the
efforts and hardships that everyone encounters in organizing the webinar, we can say that it was
all worth it and comes out fruitfully.

CONCEPT PAPER
TITLE:
“Rebuilding Tourism and Hospitality Industry: Response, Recovery, and Resilience to New
Normal”
THEME:
“Rebuilding and Strengthening the Tourism and Hospitality in the New Normal:
Transforming for a Better Industry”
OBJECTIVE:
ii. To give us insights and strategies on how to strengthen and rebuild the tourism and
hospitality in the new normal.
iii. For the employees and future professionals, be equipped effectively the new normal
practices in the field of the tourism and hospitality industry.
RATIONALE:
The COVID-19 pandemic has overturned the entire world, crushing public health
agencies, overwhelming economies, and creating havoc on the hospitality and tourism industries.
Republic of the Philippines
COLLEGE OF HOSPITALITY
MANAGEMENT
EVENTSMANAGEMENTCLASS4D
Although the damage is real, there is always a rainbow after the rain. The tourism industry has
always been resilient to external shocks, and our internal fundamentals continue to be strong: In
2030, 5.3 billion travelers all over the world will join the ranks of the middle class, earning an
astounding $64 trillion in spending power (Dehler, 2020). Majority of these people 一 especially
experience-hungry millennials 一 will be eager to get out and explore the globe.
Nevertheless, while this pandemic will eventually wane, the hospitality industry will
never go back to the “old normal.” When the tourism industry recovered after 9/11, customers
became intensely sensitive to the risks of international terrorism, so governments and industry
responded with enhanced security precautions at airports (Dehler, 2020). The same shift is
happening today, as travelers expect much higher standards of hygiene and show a significantly
greater appreciation for social distancing. Fortunately, there are various self-service technologies
that hotels can use to enhance hygiene, promote social distancing, and provide travelers with a
convenient and hyper-personalized guest experience. For hotels, it can be a clear win-win.
Hence, while facing the new normal, we assure that the future staff and employee in the field of
the hospitality and tourism industry will gain knowledge about certain things in order to face the
new normal. This webinar with the theme, “Rebuilding and Strengthening the Tourism and
Hospitality in the New Normal: Transforming for a Better Industry” is designed to educate
individuals and the future employees in order to adapt the new normal. In addition, it will also
provide quality service that they can apply in order to meet the standard and satisfaction of the
customers, and for them to cope up with the new normal.
