COMPETENCY evidence of evolution.
OBJECTIVE 1. Identify the effect of gene mutation on the evolution of the species.
2. Compare the homologous, and vestigial structures.
3. Analyze their significance in evolutionary history.
ELICIT AND ENGAGE (Get the pupils’ minds focused on the topic) MATERIALS

a. (Review)

b. Let the learners sing and dance to the song “Corona Virus Song” Song

c. Guessing Game….4 pics 1 word (Unlocking of Difficult Words) 4PICS1 WORD game

Ask:
 What are the words revealed from each picture?
- evolution
- anatomy
- fossils
- structures
- embryo

 Relate the words in the lesson. MAPEH Integration

 The teacher will show the pupils the meaning of the words revealed in the English Integration
game.

EXPLORE (Provide pupils with a common experience)

A. Kahoot! (Interactive Quiz) ICT integration
Using the Kahoot app, perform the EXPLORE activity 1 Interactive quiz

HOTS
After the interactive quiz, the teacher will guide the students to do “Firm Up” through
inquiry instruction.

B. Group Activity

Group 1: The Sci-investigators

The teacher will ask the group to investigate and study the evidence of evolution by
performing the “Activity 2-I CAN SEE YOU”.

Group 2: The Sci-Broadcaster

The teacher will provide an article about evidence of fossils. Ask the group to present
the activity in a TV broadcast.

Group 3: The Sci-Watchers

The teacher will provide a video clip of comparative anatomy and ask the students to
make a video analysis of the differences between Homologous and Analogous
structures, and Vestigial Structures.

Group 4: The Sci-Editors

The teacher will provide pictures of the embryo of different animals and ask the
students to make a collage of these pictures with proper captions.

EXPLAIN (Teach the concept. Should include interaction between teacher and pupils)
A. Show the presentation rubrics.
