Define Tundra (2)
A cold region where the ground is deeply frozen; only the surface thaws in summer, allowing
small plants to grow.
Explain Permafrost (2)
In the tundra, soil below the surface is usually frozen all year. Its called permafrost. But now it
is starting to thaw. So, buildings shift and tilt. And the methane trapped inside the permafrost
escapes into the air.
What the bad news for polar bear? (2)
In the artic ocean, more sea ice is melting each year, and earlier. That’s bad news for polar
bears. Who use it as a platform for hunting seals. Less ice means they must swim further for
their food or starve.
