PRELIMINARY INVESTIGATION
Preliminary Investigation basically refers to the collection of information that
guides the management of an organization to evaluate the merits and demerits of the
project request and make an informed judgment about the feasibility of the
proposed system. This sort of investigation provides us with a through picture of the
kind of software and hardware requirements which are most feasible for the system,
plus the environment in which the entire project has to be installed and made
operational.

Purpose &Scope
The objective of Campus Edge is to allow the administrator of any organization to add,
edit, update, delete and find out the personal details of a student and allow to online
enquire or admission and generate automatic timetable manage fee or hostel and
transport and other module and allows the student to keep up to date his profile. It will
also facilitate keeping all the records of students, such as their id, name, mailing address,
phone number, DOB etc. So, all the information about a student will be available in a
few seconds. Overall, it will make Student Information Management an easier job for the
administrator and the student of any organization. The main purpose of this Campus
Edge is to illustrate the requirements of the project and is intended to help any
organization to maintain and manage its student’s personal data and other things.
Motivation
The importance of school education lies in the fact that the children of today will become
adult citizens of tomorrow. The growth and future of our country highly depends upon
the quality of the present school education system. And in a good school the chief
objective is to stimulate interest and curiosity in the students and provide all possible
facilities for headmasters, teachers and parents to achieve the desired goal which is a
better and easier educational way for students. So, the motivation for our project came
from that it has been made for that purpose, and for trying hardly to achieve all the
previous goals.

SYSTEM ANALYSIS
Feasibility Study
A feasibility study aims to objectively and rationally uncover the strengths and
weaknesses of an existing business or proposed venture, opportunities and threats
present in the environment, the resources required to carry through, and
ultimately the prospects for success. In its simplest terms, the two criteria to judge
feasibility are cost required and value to be attained.
TECHNICAL FEASIBILITY
Technical feasibility
The minimum hardware configuration for his Project to run is as follows:
Atom Processor Onwards
512 MB RAM
For its execution it is mandatory that it be used with a GUI based
Operating System like Windows10.
HARDWARE
Intel based processor-run computer system, which have keyboard and
mouse as input devices. This has been decided for its case of availability
and up-gradation. The various registers maintained at the different
department have enough information recording, which will help in
digitizing the available data. Technical feasibility centre on the existing
computer system (hardware, software) and to what extent it can support
the proposed addition. If the budget is a serious constraint, then the
project is judged not feasible.
BEHAVIOURAL FEASIBILITY
The project has a very user friendly, GUI based interface also featuring
help menu, which leaves no room for any confusion at the user end. There
were some errors at the beginning of the project but it all has been taken
out. It was made for the user clean UI programming that means it was
made with very simplistic UI (user interface) so the user can understand
easily at the very first time. No need for training the user to use the
Project. Hence it is operationally feasible.
ECONOMIC FEASIBILITY
The cost of developing this project is merely the man-hours that are put
into it, apart from this, on the institutional front the costs that it will be
bearing is to comply with the minimum system requirements for the same.
Since the institution that will employ this project already has the required
facilities, this project is economically feasible.
The procedure is to determine the benefits and savings that are expected
from a candidate system and compare it with the costs. If a benefit
outweighs costs, then the decision is made to design and implement the
system. Otherwise, further alterations are made in the proposed system
o Manpower cost
o Hardware and software cost.

Requirement Analysis
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
Student management system is a computerized system which helps student to check
our room like student total details, fees details, future scope or register login and etc.
It reduces the risk of paper work such as file lost, file damaged and time consuming.
It can help user to manage the transaction or record more effectively and time-saving.
PROBLEM STATEMENT:
The problem occurred before having computerized system includes:
o File lost
When computerized system is not implemented file is always lost
because of human environment Sometimes due to some human error
there may be a loss of records.
o File damaged
When a computerized system is not their file is always lost due to some
accident like spilling of water by some member on file accidentally, besides
some natural Disaster like floods or fires may also damage the files.
o Difficult to search record
When there is no computerized system there is always a difficulty in
searching of records if the records are large in number.
o Space consuming
After the number of records becomes large the space for physical storage of
file and records also increases if no computerized system is implemented.
SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
o Efficiency requirement
When a student management system will be implemented Admin and
teacher will easily access details of student, stock and also the status of
student and fees details.
o Reliability requirement
The system should accurately perform student registration, login
validation, student registration, stock and search.
o Usability requirement
The system is designed for a user-friendly environment so that admin and
teacher can perform the various tasks easily and in an effective way.
15
o Implementation requirements
In implementing whole system, it uses C# in front end and Ms sql server are
used for database connectivity.
o Delivery requirements
The whole system is expected to be delivered in one months of time with a
weekly evaluation by the project guide.
FUNCTIONAL REQUIREMENTS
o Description of feature
This feature used by the user to login into system. They are required to enter
user id and password before they are allowed to enter the system. The user
id and password will be verified and if invalid id is their user is allowed to
not enter the system.
o Functional requirements
i Login of admin.
ii Login of teacher.
iii Login student.
iv Change the login password.
v Register the student by admin and teacher.
vi Change personal, contact details by system admin.
vii Withdraw reg. details by the admin.
o Non-functional requirements:
A characteristic of a quality SRS is that in addition to describing the
functional requirements of a system, it will also provide detailed coverage of
the non- functional requirements. In practice, this would entail detailed
analysis of issues such as availability, security, usability and maintainability.
However, as this document is only an outline specification, it does not contain
the same degree of rig our that would normally be expected in a formal SRS.
Therefore, the sections below should be seen as indicative rather than
providing specific requirements.
Hardware Requirement
Intel core i3 7nd generation is used as a processor because it is fast than other
processors and provide reliable and stable and we can run our pc for long time.
By using this processor, we can keep on developing our project without any
worries. Ram 4 GB is used as it will provide fast reading and writing capabilities
and will in turn support in processing
Hard disk : 80GB or more
Monitor : 15” CRT or LCD monitor
Keyboard : Normal or Multimedia
Mouse : Compatible mouse
Software Requirement
Front End : Visual Basic, jQuery, JavaScript, Dot Net
Back End : MS Sql Server
IDE Tool : MS Visual Studio 2019
Operation System : Windows 10

INTRODUCTION ER DIAGRAM
The entity-relationship data model is based on a perception of a real world that
consists of a collection of basic objects called entities and of relationships among
these objects. An entity is an “object” in the real world that is distinguishable from
other objects. E.g., each customer is an entity and rooms can be considered to be
entities. Entities are described by a set of attributes. E.g., the attributes Room no.
and Room type describes a particular Room in a hotel. The set of all entities of the
same type and the set of all relationships of the same type are termed as an entity
set and relationship set respectively.
The logical structure of a database can be expressed graphically by an E- R
diagram consists of the following major components:
o Entity
An entity is an “object” in the real world that is distinguishable from all other
objects. An entity set is a set of entities of the same type that share the same
attributes.
o Weak Entity
An entity set that may not have sufficient attributes to form a primary key is
termed as a weak entity set.
o Attribute
Attributes are descriptive properties possessed by each member of an entity set.
o Key attribute
A key attribute is the unique, distinguishing characteristic of the entity. For
example, Guest ID might be the guest’s key attribute.
o Multi value attribute
In an instance where an attribute has a set of values for a specific entity is
called multivalued attribute.
o Derived attribute
o Relationships
A relationship an association among several entities.
o Recursive Relationship
In some cases, entities can be self-linked. For example, Employees can
supervise other employees in a hotel.
While using E-R diagrams, we can follow certain guidelines, which are
as follows:
Unnecessary attributes should not be introduced.
Entities should be merged with common attributes.
A complex entity should be simplified by decomposing a complex attribute into sub
attributes.
We should generalize or specialize wherever possible and appropriate. Generalization
is the result of taking the union of several lower entity sets to produce higher- level
entity
