Answer questions from all units. All units carry equal marks.

Unit—I 1x14=14m.

1. “If you want to be listened to, you should put in time listening.” Discuss with
reference to listening skills and types of listening. .
Or
Explain the importance of Stress and Intonation in “effective speech”?
Or
Explain the importance and methods of taking notes while listening.

Unit—II 1x14=14m.
2. Explain different varieties of English and their salient features with reference to
any two varieties.
Or
Discuss the importance of Body Language in effective Communication.
Or
Examine different functions of “Language” in the process of communication.

Unit –III 1x14=14m


3. Explain different types of reading and discuss the differences between      
    “Skimming” and “Scanning”.
Or
Write a dialogue requesting your friend for financial help to pay your exam fee.

explain the mistakes in the sentences. 7x1=7m

(v) His both sons are doctors.

(vii) I have a work to do.
(viii) My father has arrived last night.
(ix) If it had rained yesterday we would cancel the journey.
