Assignment 5 - Heuristics and Principles
Assignment 5 - Heuristics and Principles
As you can see in the picture there are indications/symbols for the usage of each and
every port in the PC. There are symbols and arrowing to tell the user which one is the
USB port and also the headphone sign and speker sign indicates the user where to
insert/connect the headphone. This the example of Mapping (one of the elements of
heuristics)
2
As you can see in the image for opening the bottle there is some text and arrows are
inscripted for the user to understand how to break the seal of the bottle for the first
time. And arros indicates which side the user should rotate to open the bottle. This the
perfect example of Mapping from the elements of heuristics.
3
As you can see this is the image of the lift area in my office, wherein the arrows were
provided to see the lift movement i.e, if the lift is going up upper arrow will blink orelse
lower arrow will bling indicating that the lift is going downwards. This helps the user to
understand in which direction the lift is moving and helps the user to understand the
movement at a glance. This is a good example for understanding mapping( one of the
elements of heuristics).
4
As you can see this is a doorway in my office which leads us to the staircase of the building. On the
door it is written “Push bar to open”. Only by pushing the big bar on the door the user can open the
door and go to the staircase. The written indication the only indication by which the user can
understand how to open this door. This is one of the examples of mapping (one of the elements of
heuristics).
