The Maps Below Show Pancha Village in 2005 and 2015
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that the park has expanded to
include more areas for research, education and improved accessibility.
Considering initially the northern end of the park, in 2008 there was considerable untouched
natural land that has now been replaced with a research and development center (the
reception area was also removed in favor of a university hub, while the adjacent offices remain
the same). South of these new facilities, the car park has reduced in size, the business units are
unchanged, and, most significantly, the cyber security building has been enlarged, overtaking
previously undeveloped land.
In the southern section of the park, the circular IT centre has been transformed into an
innovation centre and there is a new train station on the southernmost tracks with walkways
branching off to various facilities. Finally, there are additional biking routes along an eastern
road and running through the centre of the park past the car park and new buildings.
By 2015, the single dirt road present in 2005 had been transformed into a highway lined with
road signs, telephone poles and telecommunication towers in the bottom left corner of the
map. On the left side of the road, the marketplace has grown and become more organized
while the sizes of the homes along the road have also become larger.
To the right side of the road, in the bottom corner, the area demarcated for pagodas now
allows for an additional building. Just above the pagodas, two homes have been cleared away
and in the upper right corner, the town built a secondary school to complement the primary
school.
It is also worth noting that in 2005, most homes only possessed access to telephones but by
2015 satellite service had become common.
The plans below shows a home and plans for its redevelopment.
The floor plans detail a home at present and planned renovations. Looking from an overall
perspective, it is readily apparent that the interior will expand slightly to include additional
living areas and rooms, with a new parking area outside.
The home presently contains a single abutting study/bedroom on the left side that will be
doubled in the future. In the main home itself, the current set-up includes an entranceway
opening into a large hall, next to a bathroom to one’s immediate left, a long living room, a
study/bedroom, a kitchen and another study/bedroom on the right side directly across from
the entrance.
In the future, the bathroom will reduce in size slightly and an ensuite bathroom will be added
to the hall. The living room will be replaced by a large study/bedroom and a smaller
study/bedroom in the top left corner. On the right side, the kitchen will be extended sideways
allowing for a social area and the study/bedroom in the bottom right corner is projected to be
unaltered. Outside the home, the garden to the top will remain unchanged but the lower one
will be removed in favor of a parking area.
The plans below show a theatre in 2010 and 2012. Summarise the information by selecting
and reporting the main features and making comparisons where relevant.
The above floor plan delineates a theatre in 2010 and in 2012 after renovations. Looking from
an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that there was a general expansion of facilities
allowing for both more customer-oriented business and staff activity.
In 2010, the smaller theater was centred around a large auditorium (unchanged in 2012) with
a large dressing room space behind it and a storage area in the top right corner. By 2012, the
storage room had moved to the bottom left corner in favour of an administration office, while
the dressing room was repositioned to a smaller room in a new wing of the building on the left
side, which also includes a room for showers. Replacing the long dressing room is a
coordination area.
Near to the entrance, there is now a large restaurant occupying previously empty space and
requiring the relocation of the admin and ticket offices (the former is now to the right of the
office, displacing a cafe). The main door has remained the same and there are no other
alterations since 2010.
The map details alterations to the town of Pentland from 1980 to 2007. Looking from an
overall perspective, it is readily apparent that there was a lot a of residential and commercial
development over the years including construction of a marina for yachts, shops, houses and
entertainment facilities.
In 1980, Pentland consisted mainly of grasslands to the south, two main intersecting roads, an
eastern car park, an industrial area in the west and the sea to the north. By 2007, every area
had changed or been relocated. An additional road was built by the coast (now a yacht marina)
with a park bordering it in the northwest and seaside apartments on the opposite side.
The roads are now lined with shops and the car park added floors and moved from the eastern
to western end of town, adjacent to a new swimming pool. In the south, grasslands made way
for a cinema to the west and rows of houses along a new eastward avenue.
The outdoor court on the eastern side will be replaced by a sports hall and to the southeast of
the sports hall the university will add an additional changing room (which is mirrored by the
same room in the southwestern corner of the plans) and an abutting cafe to the west. The
large entrance area will not be impeded in any way but a new sports shop will open next to
the westernmost changing room.
The plans below show the layout of a university’s sports centre now, and how it will look
after redevelopment.
The diagrams detail the present construction of a sports centre and plans for its renovation.
Looking from an overall perspective, it is readily apparent that there are plans to remove the
outdoor courts and expand the gym with additional facilities for swimming, changing, dancing,
and activities largely unrelated to exercise like shopping and having coffee.
At the moment, the university’s main building is flanked by large outdoor courts. The plan is to
remove the western courts in favour of a leisure pool larger in size than the current pool,
which will itself remain unchanged during renovations. The entire main building will not
undergo alterations including the changing rooms, reception and seating area. The only slight
exception is that the gym on the northern end of the building will be lengthened eastwards
and connect with two new adjoining dance studios.
