 What I Need to Know

This module was written and designed to make learning easier especially as we are in
the New Normal situation. As an educational tool, this module about the Consumer
Health: Enrichment for Modules 1-3 challenges you as a learner, to become creative,
resourceful and independent. The scope of the module provides a variety of activities
that will stimulate independent and self-guided learning experience. Lessons in this
module are arranged to follow the standard sequence of the course to ensure effective
learning continuity, make the experience more meaningful, effective and relevant to
life situations.

This module includes lessons and activities on:

 Identifying and classifying the kinds of frauds in health information,

1 Modules 1-3
You have learned that receiving health information, products, and services from
various sources is a normal part of your teenage life. You also recognized that you are
starting yourself-inquiry and curiosity with health information, health products, and
health services in your surroundings if they can help you solve your adolescent life
problems. Recent modules helped you to develop wise decision making in identifying
this health information, purchasing health products, and availing health services to be
protected from fraud to live a healthy and stress-free life.

We face a variety of health information from the internet, social media, relatives, and
friends. Health products and services that are available anywhere must be
investigated, proven and tested by credible governmental and non-governmental
health organizations before our consumption to avoid danger in fraud and personal
health. You now become a wise consumer, must investigate efficiently and gathered
evidence on quality, effectivity and credibility of the health products and services
before availing and purchasing them for you and your family to be safe and protected
from fraud and false information. Module 7 will not only help you empower the
knowledge and strengthened the skills that you have gained from Modules 1, 2 and 3
but more so in preparing a whole developed personality that can safeguard self and

What is It

In the above activity, it shows that every

consumer like you receive health information,
products, and services from various sources.
Your teenage life may encounter enormous
concerns related to physical and emotional
changes brought about by puberty causing
you to be curious and inquisitive to easy yet
effective solutions. Some information,
products and services may offer fast solutions
in a short period of time without scientific
evidences of its effectivity and quality control. Assessing, selecting and patronizing
these health information, products and services requires mastery in decision making
skills and wide-sources knowledge validation that may protect you from the danger of
frauds and false information, fake products and decisive services.
A deeper example of health information is the data related to a person’s medical
history, including symptoms, diagnoses, procedures, and outcomes. Health
information records include patient histories, lab results, x-rays, clinical information,
and notes. A patient’s health information can be viewed individually, to see how a
patient’s health has changed; it
can also be viewed as a part of a
larger data set to understand how
a population’s health has changed,
and how medical interventions can
change health outcomes.
