SKET3623 Data Communication & Networks

This document provides an introduction and overview for the course SKET3623 Data Communication & Networks. The objective of the course is to enhance students' knowledge of data communication and computer networks. It will cover the basic processes of data communication including protocols, interfacing, and interactions between computer networks and telecommunication systems. By the end of the course, students should understand systems for representing, distributing, transmitting, and receiving data in communication networks. The course will utilize teaching methods like synchronous and asynchronous lessons and flipped classrooms. Students will be assessed through quizzes, tests, assignments, projects, and presentations.

SYNOPSIS

The objective of the subject is to enhance the

students’ knowledge on data communication and
computer networks. It explains the basic process of
data communication, protocol, interfacing, and inter-
working between computer networks and switching
components in telecommunication system.
At the end of the course, the students should be
able to understand the system used in
representation, distribution, transmission, and
reception of data in data communication network.
