Complete using the right word. Choose the best answer.
We use the word “(doing - having - do)” as an auxiliary verb, as in “Do you speak English?” but it also means
“(tener - hacer - reir)” ‘to do’. Verbs in the infinitive take the word “to” (between - behind - in front of) them.
For example, to do: to come: to go, etc. Verbs which use a 'to-infinitive' or '-ing'
Hate, like, love and prefer use (either - neither) '-ing' or a 'to-infinitive'. The difference in (to mean - mean -
meaning) is small. The '-ing' form emphasises the verb. The 'to-infinitive' puts the emphasis more on the preference
for, or the results of, the action.
I love cooking Indian food. (emphasis on the process itself and enjoyment of it) I like to drink juice in the morning, and
tea at lunchtime. (emphasis more on the preference or habit)
She hates cleaning (hers - her - she) room. (emphasis on the process itself and no enjoyment of it) I hate to be the
only person to cook. (emphasis more on the result: I prefer not to be in that situation)

quantity, and take no “s”. Money is no exception; we can count money, but we do not say one money, two monies. We say one dollar, two dollars;

Hi, my name is Rachel. I am twenty years old and today I want to talk about my best friend Brenda. She was my classmate
and she is twenty years old too. We attended a very big school near Quevedo. We shared the same desk and loved the
same school subjects. Our favourite lessons were Music and Physical Education.
I was very good at tennis and she was very good at volleyball. She played volleyball at our school team. We both had a busy
life. We always got up at half-past five and at six o’clock her father took us to school by car. They lived next door to us, so after
school, we always did our homework, walked our pets and played together. Our classes started at quarter past seven and
finished at 1 pm. Her mother is a nurse. My mother is a nurse too and they worked at the same hospital. Our fathers are both
engineers but they work at different companies. On Mondays, Brenda had violin class and I had piano class. On Tuesdays and
Thursdays, she practised volleyball at the school’s gym and I played tennis in our school court. Friday was my favourite day
because Brenda stayed all night with us. On the weekends, we usually went to the cinema or had a picnic if the weather was
