    IHCP expands practitioners allowed to order speech


    pathology services
    The Indiana Health Coverage Programs (IHCP) currently allows physicians, including doctors of medicine and doctors
    of osteopathy, to order speech pathology services for IHCP members. For reimbursement consideration, the ordering
    physician must be enrolled in the IHCP.

    Effective Aug. 1, 2022, the IHCP is expanding the practitioners that may
    order speech pathology services for IHCP members. For dates of service
    on or after Aug. 1, 2022, the following IHCP-enrolled practitioners may
    order speech pathology services:

    ◼ Physician licensed under Indiana Code IC 25-22

    ◼ Nurse practitioner licensed under IC 25-23

    ◼ Clinical nurse specialist licensed under IC 25-23

    ◼ Certified nurse midwife licensed under IC 25-23-1-13.1

    ◼ Physician assistant licensed under IC 25-27.5

    This policy change applies to all IHCP programs, subject to limitations


    established for certain benefit plans.
