Prayers
Special rituals of Fridays
Do you know which day is the best among the days?
No doubt! It’s the very day in which all the Muslims gather in masjids for Jumua.
Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬had taught us about a particular timing on Fridays in which Allah never
neglects a person if he ask for something to Him. Everyone should come to masjid for
Jumua. It is not compulsory for travellers, patients and ladies. They just have to pray
ُ as usual.
‫ظ َهر‬
It is sunnah particularly on Friday, to use perfume, to take bath and to clean your
teeth. It is good to clip your nails on Fridays. It has special virtues to arrive early in
the masjid and to spend the time for Quran recitation and for prayers.
In the masjid
Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬had taught us that whoever sit and wait for the prayer in the masjid
after doing ablution is like the one who perform salah. It is virtuous to involve in
activities like saying dhikr, reciting quran and sitting in the masjid with the intention
of I’thiqaaf. Everyone should sit in swaff in masjid. Mu’addin will do the adhaan
when Qateeb enters the mimber by saying salam.
Essential elements of Qutuba

 Praise Allah
 Say salath in the name of prophet‫ﷺ‬
 Advising (wasiyyath) Thaqwa
 Recite one verse from Quran in any one of the two qutubas.
 Pray for the wellbeing of the believers.
Qutuba has two parts. After the first part of qutuba, Qateeb should sit in the mimber
itself for a while. Then he should get up and repeat hamd, swalaath and wasiyyath.
Those who came to attend Jumua should listen the qutuba carefully and participate
in the prayer. From hadeeth we can understand that those who talk during qutuba
will not be even considered to have jumua.
Prayers of daily life
Allah is our creator and our guardian. He is the Capable and the Merciful. We are the
slaves of Allah. Allah is the one who gives us everything and rejects us everything. So
we should continuously ask for anything to him. Islam has given very much
importance for prayers and dhikrs.
(٧٧ - ‫قُ ْل َم ا يَعْبَأ ُ بِكُ ْم َربِّي ل َ ْو َﻻ ُدعَا ُؤ كُم )الفُرقَان‬

Say, "What would my Lord care for you if not for your supplication?"(Al Furqan 77)
Prophet ‫ ﷺ‬had taught many prayers that should be prayed regularly by a believer
everyday. Some among them are given below.
When awakening from sleep

‫ا ْل َح ْم ُد ِ ﱠ ِ الﱠذِي أ َ ْح َيانَا بَ ْع َد َما أ َ َماتَنَا َو ِإلَ ْي ِه النﱡشُو ُر‬
All praise be to Allah, who gave us life after dying (sleep is a form of death) and to
Him will we be raised and returned.
When going out of the house

َ ُ ‫عوذُ ِب َك أ َ ْن أ َ ِض ﱠل أ َ ْو أ‬
‫ض ﱠل‬ ُ َ‫علَى ﱠ ِ َو َﻻ َح ْو َل َو َﻻ قُ ﱠوةَ ِإ ﱠﻻ ِبا ﱠ اللﱠ ُه ﱠم ِإنِّي أ‬ َ ُ‫س ِم ﱠ ِ ت َ َو ﱠك ْلت‬ ْ ‫ِب‬
◌ِ ‫ى‬ ‫علَ ﱠ‬ َ ‫أ َ ْو أ َ ْظ ِل َم أ َ ْو أ ُ ْظلَ َم أَ ْو أَجْ َه َل أ َ ْو يُ ْج َه َل‬, ‫أَو أ ُ َز ﱠل‬,‫أو أ َ ِز ﱠل‬,
I depart with Allah's name, relying on Him. It is Allah who saves us from sins with His
guidance (the ability to do so) O Allah, I seek refuge in You from misleading or being
misled or oppressing or being oppressed or from being ignorant or bearing the result
of ignorance.
When entering the house

‫علَى‬
َ ‫س ِم ّ ِ َخ َر ْجنَا َو‬ َ ‫س ِم ﱠ ِ َو ِل ْجنَا‬
ْ ‫و بِ ِا‬, ْ ِ‫ج ب‬ ِ ‫سأَلُ َك َخ ْي َر ا ْل َم ْو ِل‬
ِ ‫ج َو َخ ْي َر ا ْل َم ْخ َر‬ ْ َ ‫اللﱠ ُه ﱠم إِ ِنّي أ‬
‫ﱠ ِ َربِّنَا ت َ َو ﱠك ْلنَا‬
O Allah, I seek a good entry and a good exit. We take Allah's name to enter and to
exit and rely on Him who is our Lord.
When wearing dress

َ ‫سانِي َهذَا َو َر َزقَنِي ِه ِم ْن‬
‫غ ْي ِر َح ْو ٍل ِمنِّي َو َﻻ قُ ﱠو ٍة‬ َ ‫ا ْل َح ْم ُد ِ ﱠ ِ الﱠذِي َك‬
All praise belongs to Allah who has clothed me without my effort or strength.
When offering condolences to the relatives of the deceased
‫س ْل َوا َن‬ ‫غفَ َر ِل َميِّتِكُم وأَل َه َم ُك ْم ال ﱠ‬
‫ص ْب َر َوال ﱡ‬ َ ْ‫ َوأَح‬، ‫ظ َم ﷲُ أَجْ َر ُكم‬
َ ‫ َو‬، ‫س َن ع ََزا َءكَم‬ َ ‫أ َ ْع‬
May Allah magnify your reward, make better your solace and forgive the deceased
and give him patience and peace.
When bidding farewell

َ ‫ع ﱠ َ دِينَ َك َوأ َ َمانَت َ َك َو َخ َوا ِتي َم‬
‫ع َم ِل َك‬ ْ َ‫أ‬
ُ ‫ست َ ْو ِد‬
(I make) Allah responsible for your deen, your trustworthiness and for the results of
your actions.
‫غفَ َر لَ َك ذَ ْنبَ َك َويَ ﱠ‬
َ‫س َر لَ َك ا ْل َخ ْي َر َح ْيث ُ َما ُك ْنت‬ َ ‫َز ﱠود ََك ﱠ ُ الت ﱠ ْق َوى َو‬
May Allah make piety part of your journey, forgive your sins and fulfill the purpose of
journey.
When he departs
‫سفَ َر‬ َ ‫اللﱠ ُه ﱠم إِ ْط ِو لَهُ ا ْلبُ ْع َد َو َه ّ ِو ْن‬
‫علَ ْي ِه ال ﱠ‬
O Allah, Shorten the distance for him and make the journey easy for him.''
When we boards the vehicle

‫ون‬ َ ِ‫س ﱠخ َر لَنَا َهذَا َو َما ُكنﱠا لَهُ ُم ْق ِرن‬
َ ُ‫ين َو ِإنﱠا ِإلَى َر ِبّنَا لَ ُم ْنقَ ِلب‬ َ ‫س ْب َحا َن الﱠذِي‬
ُ
Allah is pure, He has given control and without His power we would not have any
control, without doubt we are to return to him.
When lying on bed to sleep

‫س ِم َك اللﱠ ُه ﱠم أ َ ُموتُ َوأَحْ يَا‬
ْ ‫ِبا‬
In Your name, O Allah, I die and I live.
َ ‫ َو ِإ ْن أ َ ْر‬،‫ار َح ْم َها‬
‫س ْلت َ َها‬ ْ َ‫سي ف‬ َ ‫ فَ ِإ ْن أ َ ْم‬،ُ‫ َو ِبكَ أ َ ْرفَعُه‬،‫ض ْعتُ َج ْن ِبي‬
ِ ‫س ْكتَ نَ ْف‬ َ ‫س ِمكَ َر ِبّي َو‬ ْ ‫ِبا‬
‫صا ِل ِحي َن‬
‫ظ ِب ِه ِعبَاد ََك ال ﱠ‬ ُ َ‫ ِب َما ت َ ْحف‬،‫فَا ْحفَ ْظ َها‬
With Your name my Lord, I lay myself down; and with Your Name I rise. And if you
take my soul, have mercy on it, and if you release it, protect it as you protect your
righteous slaves.
It is also good to recite Surah Al Fatiha, Al Ikhlas, Al Falaq, and Annaas along with
Aayathul Qursi. Then wipe your hands all over your body (as much as you can reach,
beginning with the head and the face, then the entire front of your body).
