31th Sunday of Ordinary Time

Culmination of the Month of the Holy Rosary

MASS INTRODUCTION:

“To pray the Rosary is to hand over our burdens to the merciful hearts of Jesus
and His mother”.

The month of October is dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary. We celebrate the
Feast of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary in honor of the Blessed Mother. October was also
the month in which Mary appeared for the last time to shepherd children in Fatima,
Portugal, urging them to “say the rosary every day to obtain peace for the world.

As we culminate the month of the Holy Rosary we are all invited to experience
the grace of Mary’s spiritual motherhood as she leads us to her Son Jesus. For this
reason, we are all encourage to rediscover the beauty of praying the Rosary at home.

Dear brothers and sisters, contemplating the face of Christ with the heart of
Mary our Mother, will make us even more united as a spiritual family and will help us
overcome this time of trial specially this time of covid-19 pandemic. Let us then
celebrate this culmination with joy and thanksgiving remembering the virtues of the
Blessed Mother, the star of the New evangelization.

Let us all stand, as we welcome Rev.Fr. Arnold Benedict Pola jr oc our presider,
together with the knights of the Altar, and lectors, along with our Crowning guest, no

Paanong di tayo lingapin

Kandili Niya'y ating awitin

LITURGY OF THE WORD

First Reading
Dt 6: 2-6

Moses spoke to the people, saying: "Fear the LORD, your God, and keep, throughout
the days of your lives, all his statutes and commandments which I enjoin on you, and
thus have long life. Hear then, Israel, and be careful to observe them, that you may
grow and prosper the more, in keeping with the promise of the LORD, the God of
your fathers, to give you a land flowing with milk and honey. "Hear, O Israel! The
LORD is our God, the LORD alone! Therefore, you shall love the LORD, your God,
with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength. Take to heart
these words which I enjoin on you today.

The word of the Lord

Responsorial Psalm

Though I walk in the valley of darkness, I fear no evil, for you are with me.

All that I am sings of the God who brings new life to birth in me.
My spirit soars on the wings of my Lord.

1. My soul gives glory to the Lord, rejoicing in my saving God,

who looks upon me in my state, and all the world will call me blest;
For God works marvels in my sight, and holy, holy is God's name. Response

2. God's mercy is from age to age, on those who follow in fear;

Whose arm is power and strength, and scatters all the proud of heart;
Who casts the mighty from their thrones and raises up the lowly ones! Response

3. God fills the starving with good things, the rich are left with empty hands;
Protecting all the faithful ones, remembering Israel with mercy,
the promise known to those before and to their children forever! Response

Second Reading
Heb 7: 23-28

Brothers and sisters: The Levitical priests were many because they were prevented
by death from remaining in office, but Jesus, because he remains forever, has a
priesthood that does not pass away. Therefore, he is always able to save those who
approach God through him, since he lives forever to make intercession for them. It
was fitting that we should have such a high priest: holy, innocent, undefiled,
separated from sinners, higher than the heavens. He has no need, as did the high
priests, to offer sacrifice day after day, first for his own sins and then for those of the
people; he did that once for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints men
subject to weakness to be high priests, but the word of the oath, which was taken
after the law, appoints a son, who has been made perfect forever.

PRESIDER: A reading from the holy Gospel according to Mark

COMMENTATOR: Glory to you O lord.

One of the scribes came to Jesus and asked him, "Which is the first of all the
commandments?" Jesus replied, "The first is this: Hear, O Israel! The Lord our God is
Lord alone! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul,
with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this: You shall love your
neighbor as yourself. There is no other commandment greater than these. " The scribe
said to him, "Well said, teacher. You are right in saying, 'He is One and there is no
other than he. ' And 'to love him with all your heart, with all your understanding, with
all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself' is worth more than all burnt
offerings and sacrifices. " And when Jesus saw that he answered with understanding,
he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God. " And no one dared to ask
him any more questions.

NICENE CREED

I believe in one God,

the Father almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all things visible and invisible.
I believe in one Lord Jesus Christ,
the Only Begotten Son of God,
born of the Father before all ages.
God from God, Light from Light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made, consubstantial with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us men and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
and became man (bow)
and by the Holy Spirit was incarnate of the Virgin Mary,
and became man,
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate,
he suffered death and was buried,
and rose again on the third day
in accordance with the Scriptures.
He ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory
to judge the living and the dead
and his kingdom will have no end.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father and the Son,
who with the Father and the Son is adored and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
I believe in one, holy, catholic and apostolic Church.
I confess one Baptism for the forgiveness of sins
and I look forward to the resurrection of the dead
and the life of the world to come. Amen.

PRAYERS FOR THE FAITHFUL

PRESIDER: Let us pray that the Christian community may rediscover the Rosary, a
prayer so easy and yet so rich, and contemplate the face of Christ in the loving
presence of Mary. In every petition let our response be.

LORD, BLESS US THROUGH THE INTERCESSION OF MARY.

1. Against the background of the words, Hail Mary, may all the church leaders led
to the principal mysteries of Jesus’ life and His works for our salvation. We pray.

2. In the world still turn by bloodshed and violence and with the family being
manipulated by force of disintegration, may they discover the rosary as prayer
for peace and for the family. We pray.

3. May the rosary beads become a sweet chain which links us to God puts us in tune
with Mary, the handmaid of the Lord and most of all with Christ who made
Himself a “servant out of love for us”. We pray.

4. May the Virgin of the Rosary protect as from great dangers due to conflicts,
calamities and epidemic disease especially this Covid-19 pandemic. We pray.

5. May all of us gathered in this holy banquet make use the prayers of the holy
rosary to be a channel of peace to overcome hatred with love, doubt in faith and
pardon to those who have injured us. We pray.

6. May the Blessed Mother wipe away tears from the eyes of those who mourn and
weep in this valley of tears and after this earthly exile, may all the departed souls
enter in the paradise and enjoy the vision of heavenly things. We pray.

PRESIDER: Lord our God, help us to be devoted to the blessed virgin and to the
rosary a prayer of and for family that it may bring the family members close together
amen.

EUCHARIST PRAYER
You are indeed Holy, O Lord, the fount of all holiness.
Make holy, therefore, these gifts, we pray, by sending down your Spirit upon them like
the dewfall, so that they may become for us the Body + and Blood of our Lord, Jesus
Christ.
At the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his Passion, he took bread and,
giving thanks, broke it, and gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND EAT OF IT: FOR THIS IS MY BODY WHICH WILL
BE GIVEN UP FOR YOU.

In a similar way, when supper was ended, he took the chalice and, once more giving
thanks, he gave it to his disciples, saying:

TAKE THIS, ALL OF YOU, AND DRINK FROM IT: FOR THIS IS THE CHALICE OF
MY BLOOD, THE BLOOD OF THE NEW AND ETERNAL COVENANT, WHICH WILL
BE POURED OUT FOR YOU AND FOR MANY FOR THE FORGIVENESS OF SINS.
DO THIS IN MEMORY OF ME.

PRESIDER: Let us proclaim the mystery of our faith.

COMMENTATOR: When we eat this Bread and drink this Cup, we proclaim your
death, O Lord, until you come again.

PRESIDER: Therefore, as we celebrate the memorial of his Death and Resurrection,

we offer you, Lord, the Bread of life and the Chalice of salvation, giving
thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to
you.

Humbly we pray that, partaking of the Body and Blood of Christ, we may be
gathered into one by the Holy Spirit.

Remember, Lord, your Church, spread throughout the world, and bring her
to the fullness of charity, together with N. our Pope and N. our Bishop and all
the clergy.

Remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of
the resurrection and all who have died in your mercy: welcome them into the
light of your face. Have mercy on us all, we pray, that with the blessed Virgin
Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her Spouse, * with the blessed
Apostles, and all the Saints who have pleased you throughout the ages, we
may merit to be co-heirs to eternal life, and may praise and glorify you
through your Son, Jesus Christ.

PRESIDER: Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the
unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is yours, forever and ever.
