Footing

This document provides the design of an isolated square footing to support a column with an axial load of 350 kN. The footing size is calculated to be 1.24m x 1.24m based on the load and allowable soil bearing capacity. The reinforcement is designed for bending and shear stresses. Punching shear and bearing pressure are also checked to comply with code requirements. The footing depth is selected as 500mm, with 200mm at the free end tapering to the column face.
