CASE STUDY

Summary
Just a few years after the end of Angola’s Civil war, Angolan Ministry of Agriculture
selected the Lunda Norte as high priority province for establishing a regional
agriculture farm.

The province had little to no agricultural activity and as a result, suffered from a lack of
fresh food and also experienced a high poverty.

Agricultiva took on this challenge and in an almost impossible time frame, built the
farm and brought it to high levels of production.

The project benefited the local community by providing access to high-quality fresh
food and providing employment.

The Solution
Agricultiva’s solution was to build a sustainable farm
that implemented the principles of livestock farming
as well as cereal production, feed mill, vegetable
production and a slaughterhouse.

The project which was later named “Cacanda Agro-

Industrial Complex” was fully executed in 2012
and inaugurated by the President of Angola, José
Eduardo dos Santos, in a notable opening ceremony.
Benefits
The project became a renowned regional success.

The increase in job opportunities and expansion of

commerce made the whole economy of the region
increase tremendously.

The project is self-sustained, and its output of high

quality agricultural products continues to rise.

All the goals that were set for the project were met
and consequently, the Angolan Ministry
of Agriculture decided to replicate the project in 4
other provinces.
