Death Penalty
My cousin’s classmate was just seven years old when her step-dad raped and tortured
her. She died after receiving hundreds of bruises and complications inside her body. She would
have been eighteen years old this year, she never attended high school nor college, and she didn’t
even see what the real world was. To lessen the rate of heinous crimes, we should not think about
the severity of the punishment but the welfare of the victims and innocents. The death penalty
According to the survey of Our World in Data, there are approximately more than
400,000 people die from homicide each year while 250,000 cases of rape or attempted rape were
recorded annually. In all of these cases, some remained unsolved. To prevent the increase of
heinous crime rates, we need to instil fear in the criminals. Criminals who commit violent crimes
such as rape, murder, and genocide deserve a very harsh punishment. Giving the criminals who
commit heinous crimes a death sentence will stop them from doing it again.
What we should prioritize is the welfare of the victims or the innocent, not the barbarity
of the punishment. For instance, in a rape case scenario, the assaulter will have all the reasons to
kill the victim after committing rape. If the victim survived, there is no guarantee that her
assaulter will get punished. According to Doctor Tyffani Dent, a psychologist from Cleveland,

"rape victims may not be the same again!” She said that the anxiety and depression the victims
will get after experiencing a horrible crime are unexplainable. Consider the trauma and the social
Faith in the law will only get restored if there is a deterrent to those committing an evil
act. The punishment should fit the crime. Individuals are less likely to commit violent crimes,
including murder and rape, if they know they will face punishment by execution. If someone
murders someone else, they have already given up their human rights, including staying alive
themselves. The death penalty for committing horrible and evil acts doesn’t mean that all the
accused will be sentenced to death, considering that there will always be the long due process of
law.
Sentencing criminals to death would be able to reduce crimes including rape and murders
more effectively. The criminals need to suffer for what they did and we should give them the
taste of their own medicine. Let’s not wait for things to get worse before we do something about
it. Many people suffer from this problem don’t wait for it to happen to you before you act on it.
