How can the company choose the best fitted for the position of
General Manager?
IV. Objectives:
 To identify the job description a general manager should possess
that would aid in selecting the best fitted to the job

employee satisfaction, goes by rule of law and has a good reputation in
the industry.

advantages and disadvantages of issues at hand before proceeding
further.
 Mr. Perez is a hard task master, obedient and maintains distance from
workers.
 Mr. Perez is a task-oriented leader with good communication skills and
is considered a management man.

VI. Alternative Courses of Action

As a consultant, I shall first prepare a selection criteria checklist to each
potential candidate for the General Manager position. After that is to
Identify, rate and assess job qualifications and standards for potential
candidates. And lastly, the potential candidate that garnered the highest
qualification shall be chosen as the General Manager

B. Choose Mr. Perez as the General Manager in Kowloon

VII. Recommendation
Choosing Mr. Perez to lead in Kowloon best solve the main problem of
finding the best fitted General Manager. Managers need a myriad of
interconnected general management skills to contribute to value creation for their
respective organizations, however the four key skills a manager should possess
are; Visionary Leadership, Strategy & Development, Negotiation & Conflict
Management and Team-building & Interpersonal Skills. Mr. Perez gained an MBA
degree which means he is eager to train himself to become the best leader. He
envisioned himself to become a leader by investing on a degree and even earning
an academic performance. Though he is distant from workers and a hard
taskmaster, it does not mean that he does not value his staffs. There could be a
threat of disloyalty on his staff being a stern taskmaster but I believe being known
as the “management man” makes it neutral. Having a management man skill or
also known as people management skill means he is able to handle difficult people,
resolve conflict within a team, organize work and create and sustain a positive
mental attitude. Everyone must be treated reasonably, according to the rules of
logic, irrespective of how difficult they are, and that is a specific skill that needs to
be learned.
