DESCRIPTION AND OPERATION 1

TABLE OF CONTENTS

DESCRIPTION
1

If installed, the ADS-B OUT function on this aircraft resides in the

transponder unit Garmin Model GTX33(D)(ES), XPDR 1, only. XPDR 1
receives its position data from the Garmin GPS 400W unit on the pilot's side
(GPS 1). In the event of loss of GPS signal integrity, the GPS 1 shows amber
advisory "INTEG" message on the bottom left corner of the GPS display. This
message now serves as an annunciation for:

1) Loss of ADS-B OUT function and

2) Loss of Enhanced Surveillance (EHS).

OPERATION
1

XPDR 1 with ADS-B functionality no longer supports ground mode. Selection

will result in cyclic XPDR 1 fail. Ground mode in the ADS-B enabled
transponders is replaced by ALT mode on the ground. When XPDR 1 is
selected for ALT mode with weight on wheels, the transponder will reply to
Mode S selective interrogations.
After landing - the transponder will auto-switch to STBY mode.
NOTE
If XPDR 2 is selected, RVSM equipment requirements no longer
met.

Section 8
HANDLING, SERVICING, AND MAINTENANCE 1
