1. Introduction
Overview
Hyundai Masboh Self Climbing Platform System (SCP) combines the advantages of few
levels of working platform in one modular system that makes the easy adaptation to site-
specific requirements possible. Rail-guided climbing takes place quickly and safely by
Hyundai Hydraulic Lifting Control System, even in windy conditions.

The advantages of Hyundai Masboh Self Climbing Platform (SCP) are as follow:

SCP climbing attached support are officially approved and the qualities of the
component are controlled throughout.

General Elementary Safety Warnings


User Target Groups:
a) This SCP Method of Statement is for everyone who will be working with
Hyundai SCP System. It contains information on how to set up this system and
correct utilization of the system.

b) All personnel working with SCP must be familiar with the contents of this manual
and the safety instructions for this product.

c) Personnel which incapable of reading and understanding this booklet, or who can
do so only with difficulty shall be trained by the customer.

d) The customer is to ensure that the information materials provided by Hyundai


SCP Team (including Method of Statement, plans etc.) are available to all users of
the SCP Platform which they are aware of them and have easy safe access to them
at the usage location.

Remarks (on this document):


a) This SCP Method of Statement can be used as generic method statement or
incorporated as a site-specific method statement

b) Many of the illustrations in this manual show the situation during SCP assembly
and are therefore not always complete from the safety point of view.

c) Further safety instructions, especially warnings, will be added on during the on-
site supervision by both Hyundai SCP and Customer Safety Team.

Rules applying during all phases of the operation:


a) The customer must be ensuring that this product is erected and dismantled, lifting
and operation usage under the direction and supervision of suitably skilled
personnel with the project team to issue instructions.

b) Hyundai SCP products are ONLY to be used in accordance with the Hyundai SCP
User Information booklets or other technical documentation provided by Hyundai
SCP Team.

c) The stability of all components and units must ensure during all phases of the
construction work.

d) The functional/technical instructions, safety warning and loading data must all be
strictly observed and complied with. Failure to do so can cause accidents and
severe (even life-threatening) damage to health, as well as very great material
damage.

e) Fire-sources are not permitted anywhere near the SCP Platform. Heating
appliances are only allowed if properly and expertly used, and set up a safe
distance from the SCP Platform.

f) The work must take account of the weather conditions (e.g. risk of slippage). In
extreme weather, steps must be taken in good time to safeguard the equipment,
and to protect employees.

g) All connections must be checked regularly to ensure that they still fit properly and
are functioning correctly. Retighten them if necessary.

Planning:
a) Provide safe workplaces for those using the SCP Platform (e.g. for when it is
being erected/dismantled, modified or repositioned etc). The platform must be
accessible via safe access routes!
b) If you are considering any deviation from the details and instructions given in this
booklet, or any application which goes beyond those described in the booklet,
then revised static calculations must be produced for checking, as well as
supplementary assembly instructions.

2. Erection

The condition of operation


a. Inform or notify earlier to the related subcontractor units and/or management team for the
erection activities, especially on hoisting activities. Prohibit unrelated workers to work
around the area of erection.

b. Under the erection of overall frame structure adjacent to the external passenger hoist, the
passenger hoist shall temporary stop in operation.

c. Before the erection initiated, provide proper safety training to all related workers and
safety equipment on proper conditions. The assembly work must be carried out by
qualified technicians of the Hyundai SCP Team and Client’s.

d. During the erection progress, the site material arrangement and management shall always
be kept tidy.

Erection Procedures of SCP


1) The Erection of Attached Support:

After the completion of two layers structure pre-embedment, start to erect the attached
supports when concrete strength reaches 10MPa. The support should be erected accurately
according to structural line to ensure the verticality of top and bottom support, and intervals
between supports will meet the design requirements. The steps of attached support erection
included tighten the bolts (used one washer and two nuts for both ends of bolt, and the bolt should
expose no less than 5 threads out of nut) and ensure the verticality deviation of top and bottom
support should not more than 10mm.

The Assembly of Main Frame (Guide Rail)


The Assembly of Main Frame (Guide Rail) is to be applied on ground with the location
recommended to be located within the working radius of the Tower Crane. For each main frame
assembly, check for acceptance on each element connection.

2) The Erection of Main Frame (Guild Rail) using Tower Crane:

The assembly of main frame structure initiated after at least two levels of attached supports
have erected to the position. Using the Tower Crane’s hoisting vertically hook on the Main Frame,
slowly bring up the Main Frame from the location of assembly to the designated location with
lock up position to the attached supports. Check for acceptance on each element connection.

3) The Installation of Overall Frame Structure:

After the completion of at least two related Main Frame erection, install in sequence for the

4) The Installation of Lifting Device and Hydraulic Power Pack Control System:

When the platform is ready, install the hydraulics’ electrical control system, connect
hydraulic hoses from power pack to cylinder then connect power pack to the power supply.

Test on the equipment installed with Hyundai’s erection checklist and work on the final
inspection on all elements before acceptance.

3. Operation

During operation, the user shall follow the principle ―Safety first, focus on prevention‖,
ensuring ―No tipping, No drop, No Death, No serious injury‖ incident.

1) Conduct inspection and approval system of each level lifting before allowed for operation.

2) Inspection control of erector during operation is mainly for following three stages:

a. Organize approval inspection before each lifting and it can be used after
inspector signing for the approval;

b. Site commander shall be appointed for every lifting of SCP, and the whole
process shall be recorded; During lifting SCP usage is not allowed, the tags (sign
―stop work‖) is attached on the platform;

c. Once lifting completed, the SCP is allowed to be use to continued the


construction works, the tags (sign ―allowed to work‖) is attached on the platform.

4. Lifting
Lifting principle
The external Self Climbing Platform is lifted by Hyundai Masboh Hydraulic Lifting
System. This system device included hydraulic tank, hydraulic hoses, valves, hydraulic cylinders
and power pack built in with pressure gauge. The hoses connected to maximum of three guide
rails.
For lifting steps, preparation works (including erect top attached support, assembling
hydraulic cylinder to guide rails, and dismantle bottom attached support) are carried out before
the lifting activities initiated. Check for lifting approval from related personnel and ready for
lifting activities. During the lifting activities, check for lifting works regularly. Once up to the
correct position (just below beam level), hooked up for the supporting system and check for
acceptance before allowing to use. For the detailed lifting procedures, kindly check the complete

Step 1. Hydraulic components shall install followed by hydraulic circuit diagrams.


Hydraulic cylinder installed to the wall attached support. Hydraulic piston’s hook shall
mount on guide rails.
Step 2. Waiting for top level structure formworks to be done (rebars work, aluminum
settings etc.).
Step 3. Once aluminum panel has done setting, approved personnel shall take dimensions
as followed and drill a holing dimension of diameter 38mm. A UPVC pipe (internal
diameter of 32mm, outer diameter of 38mm) with suitable length shall inserted to the
holing.
Step 4. Once concreted and panel has removed, standby support is installed.

Step 5. Hydraulic machine is now operating for lifting. Self-climbing scaffold platform
lifted to just below of the beam level.

Step 6. Bottom level of attached support is now removed and waiting for new structure
levels.

Step 7. Hydraulic machine is now moved to following level and preparing for next lifting
process.

Preparation work
a) The concrete strength of the wall structure for the super stratum to which the fixed
oriented seat should be attached should reach or exceed 10MPa before lifting,
while the concrete strength of the second floor, counting from top to bottom,
should reach 15Mpa,and the intensity of the third floor, 20MPa. The preformed
holes or embedded screw caps should be well attached to the super stratum,
meeting the requirements, thus being able to set the fixed oriented seats.
b) After making sure the hoisting system for each scaffold is in good condition and
is reliably fixed, the lifting hydraulic cylinder should be pre-pushed for
predetermining force. By this time, the lifting team leader informs that the
preparation finishes, and lifting can start. If not, try again after debugging.

Lifting the SCP


After the lifting is confirmed to start, an instruction can be sent immediately to
start. During lifting, the SCP should be lifted at the same time or in groups of maximum
three guide rails. Upon no false installation, the SCP can be lifted in place at a time.
Upon any stuck occurs, troubleshoot problems before re-lifting. While lifting, pay
attention to the verticality of the guide rail, especially the top attached support should be
aligned with the two attached supports below in one vertical plane. Otherwise, lifting
should be paused for adjustment.
While the bottom attached support is lifted to leave the guide rail, stop lifting,
dismount the positioning tube, move it to the top, align it with the guide rail and fix it in
place. Then, continue to lift.
Right before lifting to the right place, lose all fixing fasteners for positioning.
After lifting to the correct place, first, close all flapping boards before fixing all
positioning fasteners. If some fasteners are positioned are too high, put cushion courses
below. Perform unloading after all positioning fasteners are fixed.

Safety Features in Hyundai SCP - Anti-Falling Devices

Rotational Positioning
Anti-Falling Devices

The Anti-Falling Devices in the attached supports fully provide safe working mechanism in
SCP framework. The whole Anti-Falling Support is function thru the connection of Positioning
Lock and Attached Support, to form Positioning Locking Rotational Support. It works for lifting
upwards or descending downwards.
During descending of the framework, the anti-falling device in top attached support required
manually separation, while the anti-falling device in bottom attached support applies similar
theory of working/anti-falling mechanism as lifting operation.

5. Operation and Maintenance


Hyundai Self Climbing Platform must be inspected after each lifting, and it can be used after
it qualified and receiving a lifting approval of SCP after lifting (descending).

Ⅰ. The load of operation


The SCP is the frame for protection. Two set of frames when used simultaneously with each
load should be less than or equal to 3 kN/m2, three step frames when used simultaneously with
each load is less than or equal to 2 kN/m2, never overload. The load should be evenly distributed,
avoiding centralization (point loaded).

Ⅱ. The maintenance of SCP


To ensure the SCP work optimally for typical usage and to avoid the hidden risks and
hazards, maintenance should be regularly performed for the SCP.
1. Before lifting of each SCP, construction teams to check each lifting component in SCP.
When come across problems teams should promptly resolve it. Then lifting only allowed
after acceptance and signing by the site team.
2. Regular maintaining of hydraulic power pack, ensure hydraulic within allowable
pressures, checking hydraulic oil leakage, etc.
3. Check the condition of the component’s welding, dangling end sinking and fastener
tightness etc.
4. Check the connections on each valve, hydraulic hoses, monitoring pressure gauge, etc.
5. Attached Support must be protected by application templates or woven bags or other
objects after each lifting to avoid the cement mortar, dust and other debris into the anti-
falling device, this is to protect the anti-falling device so that it capable to move flexibly.

6. Dismantle
To ensure the dismantling of the SCP is safe, reliable and fast, the demolition should follow
the following procedure:

A. Setup a safety protection area


Setup the safety zones perimeter on the ground which is below the dismantling SCP area
and appoint security to guard that strictly prohibited workers to work within the SCP dismantling
area.

B. The preparation works before dismantling SCP


1. Technicians must be carried out safety technical checking before dismantling and inform
the workers.
2. Must be practical and safety first before dismantling and to be firstly remove all the loads
and rubbish on the SCP frame.
3. Must prepare all the required tools before dismantling frame, such as required wrenches
etc.
4. The Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) such as safety helmet, non-slip shoes, and
safety harness must be prepared before working on SCP.
5. Throughout the dismantled process, the operation staff should strictly comply with
related to SCP safety regulations.
6. After dismantled equipment, parts and frame materials should arranged and categorized
neatly and properly.
7. When the frame being lifted out using tower crane, any workers are forbidden to stand on
the nearest range.

C. Dismantle Procedures of Self Climbing Protection Platform


1. The dismantling sequence of Protection Platform is contrary to the assembling sequence,
and the specific steps are as follows: clean up the waste on the frame body for the
dismantle — prepare to dismantle all SCP frame body, hang to ground and categorized
stack - install the lifting point on the top of each SCP set— slightly tighten the crane rope
— dismantle the connecting bolt in the unit — dismantle the connecting bolt on the upper
and lower sections — tighten the crane rope to disengage the upper and lower sections

slightly — loosen the wall attached support connection — crane to dismantled the upper
section unit — crane to dismantle the lower section unit — dismantle the SCP set
manually after all hoisted to the ground level and materials that are categorized are ready
for sending back to factory.
2. Before the dismantling should determine piecewise dismantling sequential and unit size
based on the tower crane radius and hanging heavy load capacity and determine the size
of dismantled unit according to half the tower crane hoisting limit to ensure safety. Unit
weight is 3.0kN/m. Such as tower crane hoisting is 1.5T, then unit length is 15/3=5m,
considering the frame body height divided into the upper and lower sections, each weight
of about 1/2, so segmental dismantling hoisting according to the frame set.
3. Before the dismantling should choose no wind or breeze day to carry on and setup a
warning crossing line to prevent personnel access.
4. In advanced, tie two ropes to the vertical frame on both sides of the units set for
stabilizing unit and preventing swinging during the hoisting process.

D. Finished product protection


When dismantling the Self Climbing Protection Platform must pay full attention to the
finished product protection, forbid the destruct and the pollution on the wall, floor and door
window. Before each dismantling frame work, the site management must carry out the task’s
division and the former class technical disclosure, and analyze the problem produced by the last
work and take measures to prevent it for the purpose of protecting the product.
1. All the components (after the dismantling) shall hoist to the specified ground and
classified neatly.
2. The standard parts and small parts such as bolts, nuts, washers and arc pads shall be
packed into containers, and then transported to the ground using crane or cargo elevators.
It is strictly prohibited to be thrown to the ground directly.
3. When the large components such as main frame units and guide rails are dismantled hoist
away, wall cannot be colliding and destructing. In the meantime, using template and hard
paper or cardboards to protect the window and stainless-steel railings, avoiding collision
and damaging. Strictly construct according to the requirements of technical manual, not
rushing when dismantling the frame, and pay attention to the protection of finished
product with the priority of safety first.

E. Safe and civilized construction


1. Before each dismantling, the site management must be informed and organizing the
workers to work safely and according to the sequence of work. Once the job started, the
operator must be in good physical health conditions and is qualified from training.
2. The ground should be set fence and warning signs during dismantling the frame and give
special cares to all non-operators within.
3. The dismantling workers must wear safety helmet, safety harness and wear a pair of non-
slip shoes.
4. SCP should be dismantled from top to bottom according to the frame packet segments,
and not to be constructed up and down at the same time.
5. Before the dismantling material and other debris retained on the SCP’s platform should
be cleaned and cleared up. Larger components of the SCP shall be transported to the
ground by tower crane timely; materials and other debris are prohibited to be thrown
directly off to the ground. Small components and standard components shall be packed in
container and then transported to the ground.
6. The components transported to the ground shall be promptly inspected, repaired and
maintained, and stored in a dry and ventilated place neatly according to the varieties.
7. Prohibit workers from drinking alcohol, illness, fatigue and other worst conditions for
dismantling process.
8. When there is wind, fog, rain or other weather more than five grade (heavy weather), the
dismantle of SCP process will be postponed/delayed.

7. Safety Precautions
Hyundai Self Climbing Platform is specially for high-rise building external protection. The
safety operation requirements shall be followed. More attention shall be paid to the items as
follows:

1. Operation workers shall be equipped with complete safety protective equipments,


including safety helmet, safety harness and anti-skid shoes. All operators shall follow the
operating regulations.
2. Lifting operation will only be allowed after top attached support concrete strength
reaches 10 MPa.
3. Lifting operation is strictly prohibited during night, rain, heavy fog or wind stronger than
or equal to 5 grade (heavy weather).
4. Lifting operation is not allow if the frame is not inspected and approved by safety
supervision department.
5. During lifting of Self Climbing Platform, personnel shall be assigned for monitoring at
every lifting device and span, strictly monitoring the operation condition, and technical
conflicts, and other malfunctions which could have impact on normal operation. Each
operator shall keep reliable commnuication with others.
6. The hydraulic lifting device shall not run with defects, and be observed for maintenance
periodically (two weeks a time).
7. If phenomenon of stretching, obstrcuted or pulling force increasing/decreasing happened
suddenly during lifting, lifting shall be stopped immediately and find the causes and solve
the causes and issues before lifting continues.
8. If power failure happens during lifting, root of power failure must be find out. If power
failure cames from main power supply, before personnel evacuation, anti-falling support
shall temporary hook and attached to frame, turn off all switches of sub-control boxes
and main control boxes of hydraulic lifting devices, and unplug all the plugs.
9. After Self Climbing Platform is lifted to designated specified height, operators shall
cooperate each other to fix the SCP and building structure, hooked up the anti-falling
supports and cover the flapping boards to the building structures.

10. The connecting bolts between the frame structure and the building structure shall be
tightened up correctly, with the bolt exposed from the nut shall not less than 5 threads
and no less than 15mm, ensuring there are double nuts with washers at two ends.
11. The activities were strictly prohibited during the lifting operation:
Material lifting using the frame;
i. Dissemble of any structures or loosen any connecting pieces without
authorization;
ii. Disassemble or remove safety protection devices of frame;
iii. Material in hoisting collides or tears the frame;
iv. It is prohibited to centralized stack material with single weight over 2kN, for
example, electric welding machine, steel structure accessory box, stacked rebar
or formwork materials etc;
v. Stop using if confronted with strong wind over 6 grade (including 6 grade). All
personnels shall evacuate from the frame, and take pre-fixing measures to the
frame.
12. Frame service load shall not exceed 1kN/ m2, and shall not exceed two-step frame
load bearing. Overloading is prohibited.

8. Safety Analysis
The followings are respectively the whole Self Climbing Platform (SCP)’s safety analysis and the
safety analysis when some components or parts got problems:

a. Fall Prevention
In respect of safety, the SCP is equipped with devices of fall prevention and incline
prevention. Even if any component is damaged, the rest of components shall not be subject
to any chain damage, and the whole raise scaffold shall not be caused to felled or inclined.

b. Safety analysis of the guide rails


 Safety analysis of the guide rails when they are bended and deformed in case of
overload:

In the process of manufacture and erection of the guide rails, it is impossible to have them all in
an ideal state of verticality, while they may have a bit of bending problem locally more or less, a
entire body inclined problem. Especially after repeated elevating operations, the guide rails can
be impossibly in a state of verticality because of such factors as any changes in the location of the
guide rails that attaching supports arising from a discrepancy of the building structure or whole
framework body deformation under stress and a discrepancy of gravity center toward outside, etc.
And in this case, if any elevating operation is to be continued (up or down), there will be a
considerable secondary stress of push and squeeze between the guide rails and its seating. On top
of that, the gravity center of the framework itself is not in the center line of the guide rails, and
there is always a horizontal pull-to-incline stress between the guide rails and their support.
Therefore, even though the attached support has the function of allowing the guide rails to move
and automatically eliminating any considerable secondary stress while restricting the guide rails,
the amount allowed for movement of the guide rails are limited.
This shows that when the incline is mutually too big between the guide rails, a bending
deformation of the guide rails may be caused during their rise-fall operation. Now a safety
analysis is made in case of any bending deformation of the guide rails for the said reason or
others as follows:
In case the said bending deformation is smaller, there will not be any big resistance between the
guide rails and their support in the up or down process and any considerable influence upon the

normal rise-fall operation because the attached support has the function of slight automatic
adjustment.

In case the aforesaid bending deformation is bigger, there will be a considerable blocking
resistance which may cause the problems as follows:
 Alarm and shutdown of the automatic control system;
 If the automatic control system is not used and the elevating operation is still going on
without any supervision by the persons concerned, the elevating system may be broken, or the
guide rails and their attached support may cause deformation. Any damage to the scaffolding
system is the most dangerous. Even though there is such a problem (the happening of such an
accident is like a fall prevention test on site), the SCP is still safe and reliable because a non-
falling down concept is adopted in the design of the fall prevention device (for more details, see
the dissertation in the following text), and based on the safety analysis, there will not be any
accident caused;
 Safety analysis made on the losing problem arising from any bad installation of upper and
lower guide rail segments or the breakage caused by any bad welding of the guide rails;
 In the course of use, even if the said loosing and breaking problems happen, the rigidity of
the whole framework body can still be kept, any local stress which is not big will be
redistributed, the force bearing capacity of the guide rails will still exist and be reliable, and the
framework will not lose its due force bearing capacity and will not be turned over or pulled to
fall down as accident because the guide rails under stress as a whole are mainly subject to the
compressing stress and the tension stress the guide rails are subject to is very small and nearly
zero thanks to the fact that the bottom of the guide rails is locked with locking fasteners and
supported on the guide seating, and that the top of the guide rails is also locked with locking
fasteners in segments and supported on the attached support, which guarantees that the welds of
the guide rails will not be broken and that the upper segments of the guide rails will not be
loosened from the lower segments of the guide rails;
 In the course of rise or fall operation, the guide rails are mainly subject to the compressing
stress and will not be broken or loosened because the force sustaining point of the sustained
center is located at the bottom of the guide rails, that is to say, the motor hoist actually suspends
the bottom of the guide rails and then drive the framework to move up and down;
 In the process of up or down operation or use, the pulling stress of the guide rails’ top

hanging at will be caused to be too big and focused and even broken or loosened between the
upper and lower segments of the guide rails because of the excursion of the framework’s gravity
center, which should be the most dangerous moment. But the whole framework body will not be
damaged or turned over because of any piece which is broken or has lost its function based on
the facts as follows:

The framework body belongs to a space structure, their top suspension arm is 2 stories high at
most, there are more rigid space structures consisting of adjacent scaffold poles and many cross
bars and small cross bars in the right and left directions; among these space structures, some
bracing bars are added in consideration of the aforesaid problems; this part of framework is
equivalent to a conventional double-row framework which is only 2-story high or more than 10
meters high at most, and the bottom, the right and left sides of the framework are all well linked,
and their rigidity is better, too, and in addition, such a kind of structure is a multi-hyperstatic
structure.

c. Safety control on hydraulic system


I. Safety control during the process of preparation
The safety control during the preparation of the hydraulic SCP formwork would be focused on
the following:
 Safety schemes programming and technological explanations.
A targeted, operable safety special scheme should be programmed before construction. In the
safety special scheme, the hazardous factors must be identified, and corresponding safety
protection design and management measures should be put forward.
 Before construction, all the relevant managers and workers should participate in the safety
education in order to improve their safety awareness and skills, and technological explanations
should also be organized to make managers and workers be familiar with the hazardous factors
and emergency response measures.
 Preparation of hoisting and installation.
Hydraulic self-climbing formwork needs a high hoisting precision because the narrow
hoisting space in the construction of Tower. During the hoisting, crashing the existing frame
and concrete pillar are forbidden, and the bolt should be tightened timely. Hydraulic self-

climbing formwork is divided into four independent frames in four directions. Each frame
body should be assembled on the ground in advance and connected firmly.
 Safety acceptance before operation.
It is important to accomplish the safety acceptance of hydraulic climb formwork before using
it. Equipment manufacturers, supervision engineers, owner's representative, and some related
experts when necessary, should be invited to inspect the safety function of the formwork
system. The inspection should be done according to the original design documents, and the
key check points include: component connection point, hydraulic self-climbing devices, and
so on. And the welded parts of important components should be conducted by weld flaw
detection.
II. Safety control during the process of self-climbing
Self-climbing process should strictly comply with the operation procedures. Before self-climbing,
it is necessary to clear the all scattered objects and only the workers could stay on the work-
platform. During self-climbing, it is necessary to pay special attention to monitor the sliding
guide, climbing speed and dynamical system. After reaching a new pendant point, hydraulic
climb formwork could come into use only by safety acceptance.
 Self-climbing of sliding guide.
Before self-climbing of sliding guide, the operation personnel, construction person in charge,
and safety officer and another relevant personnel administrator need to be at present. In
addition, it is necessary to ensure the concrete strength are over 20MPa and all the
components and control systems are in good condition.
 Self-climbing of climbing-frame.
Before self-climbing of climbing-frame, it is important to remove the unnecessary loads, such
as reinforced head, oxygen and acetylene empty bottles, and so on. The safety inspection
emphasis includes: the connection between the long side and short of climbing-frame has
been removed; the length of main cable suspension is adequate from tower cranes to
climbing-frame; all hydraulic components and control systems are in good condition.
 Safety check at the end of self-climbing.
At the end of self-climbing, the safety inspection emphasis includes: The load-bearing pins
and safety pins are inserted in place; all platform wheels and feet touch the concrete surface
tightly; the anchor bolts are tightened, and the corners of the connection parts are solid; the
protection facilities for each platform are put in place.

III. Safety control during the process of operation


The safety control during the operation of the hydraulic self-climbing formwork is focused on the
followings.
Operating platform protection.
The operating platform must ensure passage unobstructed, and protective rails and safety nets in
place. Operating platform protective railing which consisted by two horizontal rails and vertical
rails should be installed strictly according to specifications: the height of bottom horizontal rail is
0.5 ~0.6m, the height of top horizontal rail is 1.0 ~1.2m meters high, and the distance between the
vertical rails is no more than 2m. In addition, bridging and bracing has also been set in the
construction of Tower.
It is also very important to select the type of the safety net. If using the ordinary dense-mesh net,
high-altitude wind will affect the stability of hydraulic self-climbing formwork; if using larger-
mesh safety vertical net, it will increase the risk of altitude litter; In addition, the construction has
a large number of welding slags, welding flowers which can easily ignite the ordinary safety net.
Based on the comprehensive consideration of the above factors, a new kind of new fire-retardant
and dense-mesh safety net is adopted in the construction of South Tower.
 Operating load control.
All the construction loads of hydraulic self-climbing are supported by ten anchor points in
four directions. By calculating, the maximum load capacity of work template is 31.5kN/m2,
1.5kN/m2 for the climb device platform, and 1.0kN/m2 for the elevator entrance platform. So,
it is necessary to reduce additional loads as far as possible, and all the loads are forbidden to
pile together.
 High altitude operation management.
All the construction operation must be strictly in accordance with ―Construction safety
technical specifications for high altitude operation‖. Workers in high altitude operation must
wear labor protective equipment properly and begin to work after manager’s consent. The
number of workers must be in strict control and the worker should be divided into two classes
as far as possible. Special operations personnel need to comply with the operating procedures
of special operations, for example, the crane men must execute the rules of ―no lifting for ten
occasions", and welders need to respect the electric welding operating procedures.

d. Safety analysis of the Attached Support


- Safety analysis made against the dysfunction of the pendulum needle’s spring:

The pendulum needle type fall prevention device is developed on the basis of the non-falling
design concept, and when it is running normally, it can permit the framework to fall down slowly;
but when it fails during its running, the said framework’s slow falling down will be got stuck, that
is to say, when it has any failures during its running (for instance, when the function of the
pendulum needle’s spring is lost, the head of the pendulum needle cannot quit from the moving
track of the guide rails and be reset), it will finally have the guide rails got stuck to fall down
(including the slow falling down), but instead, even in this case, it will not lose its fall prevention
function, only affecting the falling down of the framework.
Safety analysis made against the possible problems of strength or material quality of the
pendulum needle:
First, it requires explaining all the followings:
The pendulum needle is developed based on the detailed design, analysis and calculation,
allowing it to have a sufficient degree of safety, and moreover a strict quality control and
inspection is done over its whole manufacturing process, and a destructive test is done in
particular prior to its assembly, that is to say, it is first hammered heavily, allowing it to be
deformed but have no breakage to validate if its material quality satisfies the requirement, then it
is put on the tester for a simulative force sustaining test by way of loading, after it is assembled,
so as to validate and test its load bearing capacity. Therefore, its strength and material quality is
reliable and secured, and its quality is reliable.
In the course of developing the elevating framework, the following principle is adhered to forsake
of securing the safety with no risk at all:
―The failure and damage of any component will not cause the other components to encounter any
chain breakage and failure and the whole framework to be turned over or pulled to fall down‖. As
to any breakage and dysfunction problems to possibly happen to the pendulum needle type fall
prevention device in respect of strength and material quality, a great deal of analysis, calculation
and tests have been done to prove that the framework will not be turned over or caused to fall
down even if the aforesaid problems happen to the device.
As concerns any individual mechanical position, there are at least 3 independent attachment
points connecting the building structure in the rise-fall process, i.e. one elevating equipment and

two guide seating at least. So long as one of the two guide seating is equipped with fall
prevention device as considered in our design calculation, even if the elevating equipment is
broken, this mechanical position will be stopped to fall down by the pendulum needle of the said
fall prevention device; but if the aforesaid only fall prevention pendulum needle is broken due to
its material quality, the guide rail in this mechanical position can only fall down vertically along
the guide seating. Since there are plenty of horizontal bars, scaffold poles and bracings connected
just between the guide rails as you can see in the following Figure,

This mechanical position will not go on sliding down and falling down can be avoided so long as
one piece of horizontal bar or bracing bar of this framework structure still functions well without
any damage.

The aforesaid analysis has been repeatedly proven and validated to be correct and fit to the actual
site situation through our site tests done. The falling distance tested on site falls within a range of
3 – 20 cm in actual testing.

- Attached support damage caused by bad welding done or damage of M30 wall attaching
bolts
First of all, it requires explaining the followings:

Full welding is adopted in terms of welding design of the attached support and the welds’ strength
is also designed to be higher than that of the base material. So theoretically, if the base material is
not damaged, the welds should not be damaged. And at the same time, all the welds are done as
per Class-3 steel structure welding design requirement as set forth in the national specifications.
Since the values adopted in the design of such a kind of welding, corresponding tests can be
easily carried out. Visual inspection and measurement are acceptable. In the whole process of
manufacturing, the guide seating has been repeatedly inspected and accepted by many people, its
quality is guaranteed, too.

In addition to that, a sufficient degree of safety is already considered in the design of the screw,
and plus selective checking and tests done for each batch of goods, its strength and material
quality is reliable and secured, too.

Our product has been used on the projects for constructing nearly 200 buildings. The integrated
body of guide seating has been damaged and dysfunctional and M30 bolts have never been
loosened and broken unless a wild and brutal construction is done, seriously violating the
operating regulations. There is only a phenomenon discovered, i.e. the bolts are found to have not
been well fastened and the backing of the guide seating is found to have not been well attached to
the building structure, which caused the screws and the guide seating to be deformed under
abnormal stress.

In the safety analysis of the guide seating, it is supposed that even if the elevating equipment or
elevating system is broken and dysfunctional first and then one of the two guide seating is also
fully damaged and dysfunctional on one end of certain mechanical position in the rise-fall
process, this mechanical position will not fall down without limit so long as only one piece of
connecting bars is not damaged and still functions correctly, because of the connection between
adjacent mechanical positions and framework body, and the restricting function of one of the two

guide seating.

On top of the above mentioned safety analysis, if more than two attached support are at least
dysfunctional in this mechanical position (this rarely happens), this mechanical position will carry
on falling down, then the framework structure in the two mechanical positions will also fall down
along with their ends and be deformed, and then, the load of falling down on the ends will be
transferred to the elevating equipment and guide seating in the adjacent mechanical positions, and
the bigger the falling distance of the end of mechanical position becomes, the more serious the
deformation of the framework bodies between the two mechanical positions will be. The bigger
the vertical load transferred this way to the adjacent mechanical positions, the smaller the
horizontal load becomes because the capacity of the elevating equipment and guide seating to
bear the load horizontally and vertically transferred is already considered in the design of the
adjacent mechanical positions against the occurrence of the above-mentioned cases. As a result,
the adjacent mechanical positions will not be subject to any chain damages and the framework
will not be caused to fall down as a whole.

In addition, a disaster reduction concept is included into the layout design of mechanical positions
of the framework based on the following considerations:

When one end of the framework is caused to fall down and be deformed, and at the same time,
the adjacent mechanical positions are also damaged correspondingly, such horizontal structures
and window openings as the buildings’ corners, balconies and so on will be in the same track of
falling down and deforming of the framework ends and its connecting bodies in the design
consideration. As long as one end of the framework falls down for a longer distance, the falling
framework will be finally stopped and supported because the aforesaid building structures are just
in the same falling track. At most the framework can only fall down for one story distance and
cannot fall further down. So the whole framework will not be caused to fall down to the bottom at
one stroke.

Since safety issues are always put in the first place in the whole process of developing ―SCP‖,
many safety problems to be possibly caused by various failures are taken into consideration, and
in particular, it is also considered to guarantee the framework not to be caused to fall down or
turned over even in very rigorous conditions.

Such being the case, our product has never experienced any falling down or turning over
accidents in its successful application on the projects for constructing nearly 200 buildings, which
has further proved that the safety technology adopted in our product is advanced and the quality is
reliable and secured.

Our product is quite specialized in its multi-functions rolled into one, for instance, its guide
seating is very fixed, can prevent any turning over and falling down, has many attaching points
properly scattered. The integrated framework body may not be turned over or caused to fall down
to the bottom at one stroke unless the components are lacked or ignored to heavens in the
installation during the guide seating’s rise-fall operation and service.
