FORMS
Transfer of Credits

The process of transferring credits received at another tertiary institution to the course of study you
are currently pursuing at the university. This process can only take place if the module was done
within the past seven (7) years. A minimum of grade C must have been attained in the equivalent
course pursued at the previous institutions before the credit transfer process will be considered.Note
this is a one-off exercise done in your 1st year at UTech. NO SUBSEQUENT TRANSFER OF
CREDITS WILL BE UNDERTAKEN.

Compare the programme module selection guide to those you've completed previously. You must
submit the completed form, A transcript with all grades entered and a copy of the module outlines for
each module being applied for. 25
FORMS
Module Exemption

Exemption is usually for students who have already completed 1st year . You are required to select
the module, then complete the form and submit it to your programme office along with a transcript
and Module outline. You are required to attend classes until the exemption has been approved.

You are likely to be given an automatic exemption from Developmental English if you were
awarded a one (1) in English Language CSEC, and have passed Information Technology at the
CAPE level . 26
FORMS
Grade Forgiveness

This is the process that allows a student to resit a module and have the more recent grade
substitute the previous one, hopefully positively impacting their GPA. This process is only
allowed in courses where the student received a grade of C- or lower. This is done within the first
two weeks of the semester.

STUDENTS NEED TO SELECT THE MODULES THEN COMPLETE THE FORM AND
HAVE THEIR ACADEMIC ADVISOR SIGN, THEN SUBMIT THE FORM TO THE
PROGRAMME OFFICE FOR PROCESSING.
PLEASE SEE THE BACK OF THE FORM FOR FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS

27
FORMS
Faculty Student Academic
Affairs Committee (FSAAC)

The FSAAC form can be used to make a number of requests as shown above. Please consult your
handbook to find out when each can be applied for and under what circumstances it can be done.
More popularly, a new student may apply for a Deferral of acceptance for a semester or a year by
completing the form for submission and pay their ECD. You may also apply for a Leave of Absence
For a semester or an academic year via the same method.

STUDENTS' ARE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE AND SIGN THE FORM AND SUBMIT TO
THEIR ADMIN SUPPORT IN THE SCIT OFFICE.
28
FORMS
Module Withdrawal

Withdrawal from module is intended to assist students who are insufficiently prepared to complete
and be examined in the module.

A student wishing to withdraw from a module shall discuss the matter with his/her Academic
Advisor then email the completed form to them. Then the student should email the form signed by
their Academic Advisor to the Programme's Administrative Support no less than two weeks before
the official suspension of classes.

Where withdrawal is granted "WM"will be placed on the student's record, but it will not affect the
calculation of the GPA
