Director of Radio and Television 2020 – 2021
▪ Responsible for programming, strategy, and operations of WABE’s NPR station and PBS affiliate.
▪ Executive producer (EP) of Peabody Award-winning civil rights podcast Buried Truths and weekly
podcast Political Breakfast. Helped develop the coronavirus podcast Did You Wash Your Hands?
and daily news podcast The Brief from WABE.
▪ EP of daily news/talk program Closer Look with Rose Scott and daily arts/culture program City
Lights with Lois Reitzes.
▪ Creator/EP of national talk program America Amplified, focused on the COVID-19 pandemic in
spring 2020 and the national election in fall 2020.
▪ Creator/EP of the live two-hour Georgia Senate Elections Special, distributed nationally by NPR.
▪ Developed key strategies (increase live news coverage and diversity of voices) and analyzed
audience loyalty data to revamp WABE’s on-air schedules.
▪ Supervised a staff of 14 producers and hosts.

Director of Cross-Platform Content Strategy 2018 – 2020


▪ Developed action plan to strategically align content across Public Broadcasting Atlanta’s radio,
podcast, digital, and video platforms.
▪ Conceptualized and served as lead producer/editor for multi-platform projects, including Only In
Atlanta neighborhood series and The Transformation of T.I. documentary.
▪ EP of the Southern hip-hop podcast Bottom of the Map, the Political Breakfast podcast, and WABE
election coverage.
▪ Created and led an in-house training program for hosts, reporters, and producers.

News Director 2014 – 2018


▪ Managed the editorial vision, strategic planning, and personnel for an award-winning newsroom of
20 journalists with an annual budget of $1.3 million.
▪ Developed and edited the podcast Buried Truths, which earned a Peabody Award, the RFK
Excellence in Journalism Award, a national Edward R. Murrow Award, and Webby honors.
▪ Trained and supervised local hosts for NPR’s Morning Edition and All Things Considered. Weekly
audience grew nearly 100,000 with a market share increase in both drive time dayparts.
▪ Established reporter beats to yield a more enterprising, investigative newsroom. Five WABE
reporters joined NPR station collaborative journalism networks and the number of WABE news
stories airing nationally on NPR quadrupled.
▪ Created and launched live daily news/talk program Closer Look and served as EP.
▪ Secured over $300,000 yearly in grant money for the WABE newsroom, including multi-station
projects like Guns & America and the CPB Investigative Journalism Initiative.
▪ Created media partnerships with Atlanta Magazine and Georgia Health News, and partnered
weekly with Atlanta Business Chronicle.
▪ Established digital and social media initiatives for the newsroom, including SEO-friendly headlines
and creative data visualization. WABE.org more than tripled its monthly pageviews during this time.
▪ Initiated the WABE Community Conversations live event series to showcase hosts and reporters.

Marketplace / American Public Media Los Angeles, CA


Editor 2007 – 2014
▪ National editor for station and freelance reporters, managing a network of over 200 journalists.
▪ Assigned and edited stories to provide content for three Marketplace programs with a weekly
audience of 14 million.
▪ Lead editor of the Transportation Nation reporting project in collaboration with WNYC and five other
public radio stations.
▪ Served as interim senior producer for both Marketplace Morning Report and Marketplace Money.
▪ Filled in regularly as Washington Bureau Editor, New York Bureau Editor, and Foreign Editor.

America Abroad Media Washington, DC


Senior Producer 2006 – 2007
▪ Lead producer, editor, field reporter, and sound designer for international affairs program America
Abroad that aired on 225 U.S. public radio stations via Public Radio International and in 145
countries on NPR Worldwide.
▪ Collaborated with host Ray Suarez and three correspondents to develop features, documentary
segments, and in-depth interviews on issues ranging from immigration to genocide.

NPR Washington, DC
Associate Editor, Talk of the Nation 2005 – 2006
▪ Generated topics, wrote scripts, and booked guests for a live daily news/talk show with three million
weekly listeners on more than 250 NPR stations.
▪ Production team for NPR special coverage of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the John Roberts
and Samuel Alito Supreme Court confirmation hearings.

▪ Produced a live NPR talk show that aired in 40 markets and reached half a million weekly listeners.
▪ Senior producer and studio director for The DC Politics Hour, a weekly regional show co-produced
with PBS affiliate WHUT for television rebroadcast.
▪ Lead producer for Kojo in Your Community, a monthly series of remote broadcasts exploring issues
