1. What is table tennis?

Answer: Table tennis is a game played inside by two or four people. The players stand at each end of a
table which has a low net across the middle and hit a small light ball over the net, using small bats

2. What origin of table tennis?

Answer: The game was invented in England in the early days of the 20th century and was originally
called Ping-Pong, a trade name. The name table tennis was adopted in 1921-22 when the old Ping-Pong
Association formed in 1902 was revived. The original association had broken up about 1905, though
apparently the game continued to be played in parts of England outside London and by the 1920s was
being played in many countries. Led by representatives of Germany, Hungary, and England, the
Fédération Internationale de Tennis de Table (International Table Tennis Federation) was founded in
1926, the founding members being England, Sweden, Hungary, India, Denmark, Germany,
Czechoslovakia, Austria, and Wales. By the mid-1990s more than 165 national associations were
members

The first world championships were held in London in 1926, and from then until 1939 the game was
dominated by players from central Europe, the men's team event being won nine times by Hungary and
twice by Czechoslovakia. In the mid-1950s Asia emerged as a breeding ground of champions, and from
that time the individual and team events (for both men and women) have been dominated by athletes
from China. The popularity of the game in China was notable for giving rise to so-called "Ping-Pong
diplomacy," a period during the 1970s in which Cold War tensions between China and the United States
were eased via a series of highly publicized table tennis matches between athletes from the two
countries. The first such event-held in Beijing in 1971 is widely credited with paving the way for US Pres.
Richard Nixon's historic visit to China the following year. In 1980 the first World Cup was held, and Guo
Yuchua of China won the $12,500 first prize. Table tennis became an Olympic sport in 1988, with singles
and doubles competition for men and women

4. Object of the game?

Answer. To hit the ball over and across the net on the opponent's side of the table so that the opponent
can't return the ball and score a point.

A point is won by a player or team when the opponent or opponents cannot hit the ball with a

racket over the net and onto the other side of the table. So Point is very important.

A match can be any odd number but is commonly the best of 5 or 7 games. Attract and look after
children with an indigenous background as well as other children. In this game, the first player or team
to win 3 games is the winner and in a 7 game match, the first player or team to win 4 games is the
winner. A Game of Ping-Pong is played over a pre-agreed number of games and the first to 11 points
wins each game. If both players and teams have won 10 points, then the first player or team to get a 2
point lead wins the game.

5. Equipment of the table tennis?

Answer: Balls
Table tennis balls are spherical solids having a mass of 2.7 grams and a diameter of 1.57 inches (40 mm).
They are generally made white or orange, but the colour is chosen in contrast to the table to enhance its
visibility for players and audiences. The ITTF rates table tennis balls (or ping pong balls) from one to
three, with the third-star rating indicating a ball being the finest among others.

Table

A ping pong table is 2.74 metres long, 1.525 metres wide, and 76 centimetres high. The IITF approves
tables only made from wood or any other similar material.

A ping pong table consists of a net in its middle, which divides the table into two equal parts.

Net

According to the ITTF's rules and regulations, a net that is placed in the middle of a ping pong table
should be six feet long and six inches wide and have an overhead white tape which is not more than
15mm wide.

Rackets

A table tennis racket is strikingly similar to a regular tennis racket (except the fact that it is smaller in
size) and is used to hit the ball back and forth on the table. It is made up of two parts - handle and blade
- both made up of high-quality wood and laminated with rubber. The average size of a racket blade in
table tennis is 6.7 inches long and 5.9 inches wide.

Playing Area

Table tennis is played on a table which has a length of 2.74 m, the width of 1.5 m and the height of 0.76
m. It is divided into halves by a vertical net having the height of 15.25 cm. Usually, wooden tables are
used having a dark colored playing surface (mostly dark green, dark blue or black). The center line on the
table divides it vertically for doubles game.
