Level 1 - Cluster 1

STANDARDIZED PROJECT

Project duration: Three (3) weeks

INSTRUCTIONS TO CANDIDATES

• All tasks should be completed by candidates working in groups of two (2).

• CANDIDATES MUST WORK IN TEAMS. Any form of duplication of other


candidates’ work will attract strong penalty. DO NOT COPY OR PLAGIARIZE
SOURCES.

• This project should be completed using word processing, spreadsheet,


database, and presentation programs, and Internet resources, compiled onto a
DVD/RW/USB flash drive, and saved as Student’s Name & TRN.

• All files in the folder should be clearly labelled with the letter of each task.

• Marks will be awarded for originality, creativity, and presentation of project.

• The instructor should maintain a copy of all candidates’ work.

• Create a folder titled Data Operations L1C1 – Project – Firstname Lastname.

• Create two (2) subfolders in the “Data Operations L1C1 – Project folder, under the
names: “MS Word” and “MS Excel”.

• Save documents in the appropriate subfolders as you carry you carry out data entry
tasks.

Task A

1. Write a paragraph explaining how your school life has changed since COVID-19. Your
paragraph should contain ten (10) sentences.
2. Divide the text into two (2) paragraphs and justify the alignment.
3. Use a drop cap for the first letter of both paragraphs.
4. Use 1.5" line spacing.
5. Change the font size to 17 pt for the last paragraph.
6. Set up the page layout on landscape orientation, and set up margins of left 1.50" and right
1.05".
7. The document should be submitted free of grammatical errors.
8. Save task as MySchoolLife_YOURNAME.

Task B

1. Open a blank Excel workbook:


a) Name the workbook “Trendy Fashion 21K”. Insert a picture that best
represents the business in the header.

You are employed at Trendy Fashion 21K. The company’s sales information is provided
in the table below. Populate the spreadsheet with the information listed within the table.
Follow the instructions given below to format the spreadsheet.

Instructions:
a) Name the worksheet: “June 2021 Sales”.
b) Insert columns into the spreadsheet under the headings: Selling price,
Profit, and Units sold.
c) Sort the data in ascending order by “Description”.
d) Change the font colour of the company’s name to blue, double underline,
and centre across columns.

2. Create formulas to calculate the:


a) profit for each item
b) selling price for each item
c) number of units sold
d) total profit
e) lowest value, highest value, average value for cost, profit, units sold, total
sales, and profit

3. Format all monetary values to reflect currency to two decimal places, and values
under Units Sold to general, reflecting whole numbers.

Type the following information in the table below, starting in Cell A:24.

4. Insert a new sheet for June 2020 titled: “Profit Comparison”.


5. Copy the March Profit information from Sheet 1 to Profit Comparison.
6. Insert the information in the June sales table created, which represents the total
profit gained for each item in the month of June.
7. Insert the column June Profit to the right of Profit on Sheet 2.
8. Use a formula to insert the data for June sales profit from Sheet 1 onto Sheet 2.
9. Create an IF formula to input the words “Gain” or “Loss” based on the results
from the comparison between the June and March Profits.
10. Produce an appropriate graph/chart derived from the spreadsheet above to show
the comparison of the profit for March and June.

11. Write a brief report to the manager regarding your findings and the relevant
actions to be taken. Include the chart to support your findings. Also link the
worksheet in the Word document.
12. Record a macro and name it “Formulas” in the worksheet named “June 2020
Sales”.
13. Save as “Trendy Fashion 21K” in the subfolder: “MS Excel”.
