This choice board will be used in the classroom as a formative assessment on graphing linear functions
and using slope-intercept form. Students will be asked to graph a function and then given various tasks that ask
them to identify the slope, x- and y-intercepts and zero of the graph, as well as to describe what the various
aspects of the graph represent. The technology based options will allow students to graph functions using a
graphing calculator, practice recognizing the slope and y-intercept of a graph from an equation by playing a
game, and learn how to convert equations into slope-intercept form to make them easier to graph.
With this activity, students will apply ISTE Standard 7 by utilizing technology to select alternative ways
to demonstrate competency and reflect on their learning. They will select choices from the choice board that
allow them to demonstrate what they have learned and to continue advancing their knowledge and skills by
practicing the skills in various ways. Similarly, I will use the data from the choice board to monitor student
learning and determine what changes need to be made or if further instruction is required before the next skill is
introduced.
