Why Government Schemes are important?

Government schemes play a very important role in Phase 1 + Phase 2 of RBI Gr B and NABARD Gr
A/B, their weightage is especially high in Phase 2 of both these exams.

What to cover for Government Schemes?

All the newly launched schemes in past one year and the old schemes that have been in news and
are directly/indirectly related to the syllabus of the examination.

How are we covering it?

We advise you to refer to this document for the coverage of the above-mentioned Government
schemes. It contains summary + latest data/current information of all the schemes that are newly
launched and also the old schemes that have been in news (either any update or mention in
parliamentary sessions/media), starting from the month of October 2020.

You are advised to refer to the following parts of already provided ESI schemes document, for the
detailed coverage of schemes -

• Part 1 - containing newly launched schemes + old ones that were earlier not covered in
our previous document
• Part 2 – old schemes (prior to 2018)

Note –

Students are advised to refer to this doc as a reference of the old + new schemes that are
important for the examination and also the current info related to the same. It must be
considered as a last-minute revision module. However, if you have time, you must refer to the main

1.1 Mukhyamantri Mitaan Yojna


What’s in News?
• Recently, Chhattisgarh Government has launched this scheme.

1.2 Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro food processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme
What’s in News?
• Recently, Union Minister of Food Processing Industries has launched 3 One District One Product
(ODOP) brands under PMFME Scheme.
• Ministry of Food Processing Industries has signed an agreement with NAFED for developing 10
brands of selected 20 ODOPs under the branding and marketing component of the PMFME
scheme.
• Out of these, 7 ODOP Brands and 9 Products have been successfully launched in collaboration
with NAFED.
• 7 ODOP Brands and 9 Products, 3 ODOP Brands and 5 Products namely Madhurmithas, Anaras,
Pind Se and two products Masala Paste and Lemon Honey under the newly developed brands
Kashmiri Mantra and Madhumantra respectively were launched.
• In total 10 ODOP brands and 14 products have been launched under the MoU between NAFED
and Ministry of Food Processing Industries under the scheme.

1.3 Survey of Villages and Mapping with Improvised Technology in Village Areas (SVAMITVA)
What’s in News?
• Recently, SVAMITVA scheme has celebrated its 2nd anniversary (launched on 24th April, 2020
on the occasion of National Panchayati Raj Day)
• SVAMITVA Scheme will cover around 6 lakh 62 thousand villages of the country.
• More than 36 lakh 68 thousand property cards have been distributed under the scheme and
drone survey have been completed in over 1 lakh 31 thousand villages.

1.4 Jivhala Scheme


What’s in News?
• Recently, Maharashtra Department of Prisons has launched a loan scheme for inmates serving
sentences in jails across the state.
• In the pilot phase, loan applications of 222 male and eight female inmates from Yerawada
Central Prison are being processed by bank officials.

1.6 Pradhan Mantri Jeevan Jyoti Bima Yojana (PMJJBY)
What’s in News?
• Recently, PMJJBY has celebrated its 7th anniversary.
• PMJJBY, PMSBY and APY were launched by Prime Minister of India on 9th May, 2015 from
Kolkata, West Bengal.
• Under PMJJBY, a cumulative number of 12.76 crore persons have enrolled since inception for
life cover and families of 5,76,121 persons have received claims for Rs. 11,522 crore under the
scheme.
• Since the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic i.e., April 1, 2020 till February 23, 2022, a total of
2.10 lakh claims amounting to Rs 4,194.28 crore were paid with a settlement rate of 99.72%.

1.7 Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana
What’s in News?
• Recently, PMSBY has celebrated its 7th anniversary.
• 28.37 crore people have enrolled for accident cover since the launch of PMSBY and an amount
of Rs 1,930 crore has been paid towards 97,227 claims.

1.8 Atal Pension Yojana (APY)
What’s in News?
• Recently, APY has celebrated its 7th anniversary.
• More than 4 crore people have already subscribed to the APY scheme.

• Recently, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has notified the e-Dispute Resolution Scheme,
2022.

1.10 Districts as Export Hubs Scheme


What’s in News?
• Recently, Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT) has sought Rs 6,000 crore from the
finance ministry for its proposed Districts as Export Hubs scheme that aims to help producers
across 200 districts scale up manufacturing and find foreign buyers for their goods.
• Under the proposal, the DGFT has sought funding to develop 200 of the country’s 750 districts
into export hubs in phases.
• It has sought an allocation of Rs 50 crore per district.

1.11 Ayushman Bharat Yojana
What’s in News?
• Recently, Ayushman Bharat Diwas is celebrated on April 30.
• The day marks the launch of the Ayushman Bharat Yojana in 2018.
• The day aims to promote health and welfare of underprivileged people who cannot afford
medical facilities.

1.12 PM Mega Integrated Textile Region and Apparel (PM MITRA) Scheme
What’s in News?
News 1:
• Recently, Ministry of textiles informed that it will prefer a private master developer who will
put in 70% of the total investment.
o The other 30% will be given by the Union government.
• A master developer will be a real estate player rather than a textile player.
• The government has received proposals from 17 states for the PM MITRA scheme which has
been allocated Rs 4,445 crore for seven years up to 2027-28.
o Only 7 states will be selected for the scheme.

• Recently, a National Conference on PM MITRA Parks Scheme was organized by Ministry of
Textiles.
• Conference provided a platform for making presentation by officials from 13 State
Governments enumerating the contours of the 18 proposals for setting up of PM MITRA Parks
in their respective states.

1.13 Scheme of Formation and Promotion of 10,000 FPOs


What’s in News?
• Recently, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has inaugurated the
Conference of Cluster-Based Business Organizations (CBBOs) and Farmer Producer
Organizations (FPOs) under this Scheme in Jaipur, Rajasthan.
• Minister informed that more than 1.35 lakh farmers have been mobilized and about 56,012
farmers have been registered as shareholders of the FPOs in Goa, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and
Rajasthan.
• Equity contribution by farmer members amounts to Rs 9.64 crores.
• 30 women-focused FPOs have been registered.

• 64 FPOs registered in tribal districts and 85 FPOs registered in aspirational districts.

1.14 National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG)


What’s in News?
• Recently, NMCG in association with APAC News Network has organised the 6th Edition of the
monthly ‘Webinar with Universities’ series on ‘Igniting Young Minds, Rejuvenating Rivers’.
• The theme for the webinar was ‘Waste Water Management.’
• The session was presided over by G. Asok Kumar, Director General, NMCG.

1.15 Namami Gange Programme

• Recently, G. Asok Kumar, Director General, NMCG has informed that under Namami Gange
Programme, around 164 Sewage Treatment Plants are being constructed worth Rs. 25000
crores that will help to treat around 5000 MLD of wastewater, resulting in major saving of
freshwater resources.

1.16 Prime Minister Wi-Fi Access Network Interface (PM-WANI) Scheme


What’s in News?
• Recently, RailTel (a mini Ratna PSU) has launched PM-WANI scheme based access to its Public
WiFi services across 100 railway stations having 2,384 WiFi hotspots in 22 states.

• To access this WiFi network, android users can download the mobile app ‘Wi-DOT’.
o This app has been developed in close coordination with C-DOT (Centre for Development
of Telematics).
• This method of accessing Wi-Fi through the ‘mobile app’ would be in addition to the existing
method of accessing WiFi at these stations through the conventional method of selecting
RailWire Service Set Identifier (SSID).
• PM-WANI-based access will facilitate ease of use through one-time Know Your Customer (KYC)
to avoid One Time Password (OTP) based authentication, every time one tries to use WANI
based Public WiFi.
• WiFi network of the RailTel is now spread at 6,102 railway stations across the country and has
17, 792 WiFi hotspots.
• The government further plans to extend the PM-WANI based access of RailTel’s public Wi-Fi
services to all 6, 102 railway stations (where Wi-Fi facility is already available) in phased manner
by the end of June 2022.
o Total 1,000 railway stations by 10 June, 3,000 railway stations by June 20 and all 6,102
railway stations by June 30, 2022.

1.17 Atal Innovation Mission


What’s in News?
• Recently, Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog has launched the AIM - PRIME (Program
for Researchers in Innovation, Market Readiness and Entrepreneurship) Playbook to help
academicians launch deep-tech spin-offs.
About AIM – PRIME Playbook
• It aims to be a comprehensive resource for academic researchers, entrepreneurs and
incubators involved in building science-based enterprises from lab to-market.

1.18 Chaara-Bijaee Yojana
What’s in News?
• Recently, Haryana government has launched the ‘Chaara-Bijaee Yojana’ to encourage farmers to
grow fodder and help gaushalas.
• The number of cow shelters in the state increased from 175 in 2017 to 600 in 2022.

1.19 New Repatriate Welfare Schemes


• Recently, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs has launched New Repatriate Welfare
Scheme, a deposit scheme of Repatriates Cooperative Finance and Development Bank Ltd.,
(REPCO Bank) a micro finance loan scheme and an app for Repco Micro Finance Limited
(RFML).

1.20 Ladli Laxmi Scheme - 2.0
• Recently, Madhya Pradesh Government has launched the Ladli Laxmi scheme - 2.0.
• In Madhya Pradesh, more than 42 lakh girls have been registered till April 2022 under Ladli
Laxmi scheme.
• During the event, Ladli e-Sawad App was also launched.

1.21 Nutritious Breakfast Scheme


• Recently, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister has announced that all Government primary school
students from 1st to 5th standards will be provided nutritious breakfast on all working days.

1.22 Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)
• Recently, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) have signed a MoU wherein UNDP will provide technical support towards
PMFBY & Kisan Credit Card – Modified Interest Subvention Scheme.
• As per the MoU, UNDP will provide responsive, demand-driven technical assistance for
effective implementation of agriculture credit and crop insurance, as well as providing capacity
development and Information, Education & Communication (IEC) support to existing national
and state institutions, keeping in mind the interest of small and marginal farmers, women
farmers, sharecroppers, tenant and non-loanee farmers.

1.23 Kisan Credit Card Scheme


• Recently, Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and the United Nations Development
Programme (UNDP) have signed a MoU wherein UNDP will provide technical support towards
Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana & Kisan Credit Card – Modified Interest Subvention
Scheme.

1.24 Deen Dayal Antyodaya Yojana – National Rural Livelihoods Mission (DAY-NRLM)
• Recently, an MoU between Ministry of Rural Development and Amazon Seller Services Private
Limited (Amazon) was signed.
• MoU will enable SHG entrepreneurs under DAY-NRLM to offer their products to the buyers
across India through Amazon Saheli Store front and help SHG women achieve good price for
their varied products.

• Salient features of the MoU -
o Amazon & MoRD will jointly enable Commercial and social development of women led
rural enterprises across identified States/UTs
o Amazon will provide Training & Onboarding support to MoRD appointed sellers to list
products from Self Help Groups (SHGs) associated with MoRD on Amazon.in
o Amazon will offer Referral fee waiver, imaging & cataloging and account management
support at launch to mitigate cold start for SHGs
o Amazon will help market and promote products listed by SHGs through the Saheli
Storefront, Social media, Events and Onsite merchandising
o MoRD (through respective SRLM) will help identify and apprise GST verified sellers to sell
on Amazon.in, and assist the sellers in securing GST, PAN etc.
o MoRD & Amazon will conduct joint workshops for awareness creation and assist the
sellers in listing their products and to unlock growth levers to grow their business on
Amazon.in
