POVERTY
1.1 Poverty
Poverty is about not having enough money to meet basic needs including food, clothing and
shelter

Family Problems
The poor are at greater risk for family problems, including divorce and domestic violence.
Education
Poor children typically go to rundown schools with inadequate facilities where they receive
inadequate schooling.

The personal and social costs of unemployment include severe financial hardship and poverty

Applying ubuntu principles in a community can help fight social challenges such as helping your
neighbour in times of need, respect and dignity it is hard for individuals in a society to hurt the
people they respect.
Social Activism
They build connections among groups and communities and disseminate information on
specific issues to create awareness and influence social change.
1.6 The government programme aims to deal with the root causes of poverty in our country.
Programmes that will lessen poverty in the long term including education and capacity
development, land redistribution, promoting economic development and job creation, building
houses, providing water, sanitation and electricity, and building schools and clinics. Job creation,
improving conditions of employment and creating opportunities for all to sustain themselves
through productive activity. Unemployment. the government can be rolling out a food support
programme for impoverished families. It targets very poor families, pensioners, child-headed
homes and homes where breadwinners are ill. The Department of Social Development can
coordinate this programme and it includes food parcels as well as food growing starter packers.

2.2 The team of experienced community care workers provide home-based care for community
members who are infected with HIV/Aids and TB.
The Gender Based Violence Support Group offers counseling sessions, social relief services, and
helpful referrals to various stakeholders for women (and men) suffering from or affected by
gender based violence.
Making South Africa a beacon of hope by providing our youth and community with the
opportunities and skills to realize their full potential and purpose. Ensuring members of our
society become empowered to make a difference.
Our Mission
2.4 Started as a project under SA Cares for Life in 2004 and graduated into an independent NGO in
2011. To uplifting the unemployed youth and vulnerable women in the underserved
community.
2.5 The greatest challenge for Lesedi La Batho is, like many other organisations, the lack of access to
operational funding. Many donors are euphoric to fund measurable projects and the supplies
they need, but very few are willing to support the salaries of the human workforce required to
enable such projects.
2.6 They Accept donations such as money, food parcels and material donations.
Cash donations from companies and other organizations that want to help.

2.8 Skill Training -Every year, we conduct more than 1200 skills training courses to motivate and
equip community members to become confident, purposeful and financially independent .
Job Placement - Our Information & Referral and Job Placement departments provide information to
our beneficiaries regarding career guidance, job vacancies, learnerships, internships and bursaries,
with the vision to reduce unemployment in our area
2.9 At Lesedi la Batho, we love working with volunteers! By bringing fresh perspectives, ideas
and skill sets into our organisation, we can expand and strengthen our impact for the
community. We believe in mutually beneficial volunteering - its not only about what a
volunteer contributes, it’s also about what you gain and learn, so we’re excited to welcome
you to the family.
2.10 There are not many activities for the youth there are mostly based on adults.
There is not a lot of youth in the organization so the youth can find it hard for them to relate
to them.
3. You can share your skills that you learned from them and teach others in your community.
Raising awareness on women abuse and child abuse.
Helping people in need.
