Introductory Message
This module was collaboratively designed, developed, and reviewed by educators both from
public and private institutions to assist you, the teacher or facilitator in helping the learners
meet the standards set by the K to 12 Curriculum while overcoming their personal, social,
and economic constraints in schooling.
This learning resource hopes to engage the learners into guided and independent learning
activities at their own pace and time. Furthermore, this also aims to help learners acquire the
needed 21st century skills while taking into consideration their needs and circumstances.
In addition to the material in the main text, you will also see this box in the body of the module:
As a facilitator, you are expected to orient the learners on how to use this module. You also
need to keep track of the learners’ progress while allowing them to manage their own
learning. Furthermore, you are expected to encourage the learners as they do the tasks
included in the module.
This module was designed to provide you with fun and meaningful opportunities for guided
and independent learning at your own pace and time. You will be enabled to process the
contents of the learning resource while being an active learner.
4
This is a brief drill or review to help you link the current
lesson with the previous one.
In this portion, the new lesson will be introduced to you
in various ways; a story, a song, a poem, a problem
opener, an activity, or a situation.
1. Use the module with care. Do not put unnecessary mark/s on any part of the
module. Use a separate sheet of paper in answering the exercises.
2. Don’t forget to answer What I Know before moving on to the other activities included
in the module.
3. Read the instruction carefully before doing each task.
4. Observe honesty and integrity in doing the tasks and checking your answers.
5. Finish the task at hand before proceeding to the next.
6. Return this module to your teacher/facilitator once you are through with it.
If you encounter any difficulty in answering the tasks in this module, do not hesitate to consult
your teacher or facilitator. Always bear in mind that you are not alone.
We hope that through this material, you will experience meaningful learning and gain a deep
understanding of the relevant competencies. You can do it!
5
This module encourages you to be familiar on how to input data into
computer:
1. Enter the data into the computer using appropriate
program/application in accordance with company procedures
2. Check the accuracy of information and save the information in

Direction: Arrange the following procedures in order on how to turn off a
computer unit. Write your answer on a separate sheet of paper.
These days we rely on computers for just about everything. With PCs
as advanced as they are, it is easy to forget the fundamentals that have made
modern technology possible. Computers do all the things they do because
they can perform basic operations.
8
Input: Information and programs are entered into the computer through input devices such
as the keyboard, disks, or through other computers via network connections or modems
connected to the Internet. The input device also retrieves information off disks.
Output: Output Devices displays information on the screen (monitor) or on the printer and
sends information to other computers. They also display messages about what errors may
have occurred and brings up message or dialog box asking for more information to be input.
The output device also saves information on the disk for future use.
Processing: The CPU or central processing unit is sometimes called the Control Unit and
directs the operation of the input and output devices. The memory or RAM temporarily stores
information (files and programs) while you are using or working on them.
INPUT DEVICES
9
Microphone
This is a device that accepts
audio input from users.
10
Aside from input devices that is used in entering data, computer also needs
application software that interact between user and computer hardware. Each application
software has its own specific function, so determining the appropriate software to be used
based on the tasks to be done is necessary.
Graphics Programs- is a software application that allows you to draw, edit, and manipulate
an image or graphic file.
Educational Software- these include tutorials and electronic lessons that give students’
knowledge or training in a particular subject or skill, such as Math or Science or in gardening
or cooking.
Web Browser Software – this is a software application for accessing information on the
World Wide Web.
11
Computer Storage Devices Computer need storage devices before and after processing
the data to store information and access later.
A primary storage device is a medium that holds memory for short periods of time
while a computer is running. Although it has a much lower access time and faster
performance, it is also about two orders of magnitude more costly than secondary storage.
Secondary storage hard drives, which store data for the long-term include internal
and external types.
Example: Hard Disk, CD, DVD, Flash Drive, Memory Stick, SD Card
12
Computer Storage Devices can be:
Fixed Storage Devices – devices that is attached inside the computer unit.
Removable Storage Devices – devices that can be detach after use and use again later
to another computer.
Cloud Storage – some websites offer free storage to users. They just need to sign up
before they can avail these free storages.
Cloud storage is a cloud computing model
that stores data on the Internet through a
cloud computing provider who manages
and operates data storage as a service.
Example: pCloud, Google Drive, Dropbox,
Microsoft SkyDrive, iCloud, Amazon drive,
OpenStack
