Global Warming
Global Warming
Introduction
We live on an earth that has many privileges: mountains, trees, forests, rivers, seas, animals, etc. all of these
creations give importance to lives that depend on each other. It’s a wonderful world. Or is it? While today
humans are increasingly influencing the climate and the earth's temperature by burning fossil fuels, cutting
down forests and farming livestock. This adds enormous amounts of greenhouse gases to those naturally
occurring in the atmosphere, increasing the greenhouse effect and global warming. Global warming that causes
climate change has many negative impact on the earth's ecosystems such as rising sea levels, melting ice,
reduced food security, pests and disease and more. Today I want to persuade you to take action so that global
warming can be reduced or stopped because it is always darkest before the dawn.
Need
I. Human actions whether consciously or unconsciously cause global warming.
A. The burning of fossil fuels causes adverse effects on the planet. (Natural Resources Defense Council, Inc.)
1. When we burn oil, coal, and gas, we don’t just meet our energy needs—we drive the current global
warming crisis as well.. (NRDC)
2. Ironically, fossil fuels produce large quantities of carbon dioxide when burned.. (factual example
- NRDC)
B. An article written by Christina Nunez in National Geographic, human-driven and natural loss of trees—
deforestation—affects wildlife, ecosystems, weather patterns, and even the climate..
1. Forests cover about 30 percent of the planet's land mass, but humans are cutting them down, clearing
these essential habitats on a massive scale. (Christina Nunez)
2. The article mention that we need trees for a variety of reasons, not least of which is that they absorb
not only the carbon dioxide that we exhale, but also the heat-trapping greenhouse gases that human
activities emit. (Christina Nunez)
C. Air conditioners consume large amounts of electricity, and the fluorocarbons they use as refrigerants deplete
the ozone layer and contribute to global warming. (Daikin)
1. Chemical compounds are responsible for keeping you cool on hot summer days, in air-conditioners
and refrigerators. (The New York Times)
2. Hydrofluorocarbons represent a small portion of total greenhouse gas emissions, but they trap
thousands of times as much heat in the atmosphere as carbon dioxide that causes climate change. (The
New York Times).

II. there are several, that can prevent problem global warming.

III. Stopping global warming is a big challenge, but also a huge opportunity that can bring a bright future to the
environment.
1. News Jobs and Green Jobs. According to Official Website of European Union, The EU's green
economy is likely to grow dramatically. There are already over 4 million jobs in companies working in
areas such as pollution management and control, waste collection and treatment, renewable energy and
recycling.
2. A clean energy powered transport can lead to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, air pollution and
noise levels as well as congestion. Electric transport have a huge benefit as they use renewable
energy, no noises like normal fossil powered engine. As a result, there will be big savings in health
costs and pollution control measures.
3. Improving public health. With the rate of pollution decreasing, the health of the public has also
improved with all not having to worry about smoke emitted from vehicles and being able to
breathe cleaner air and being able to practice a healthy life without having to worry about this.
4. Preserving vital ecosystems and species. Addressing global warming could help lessen the harm to
ecosystems that now provide us with multiple benefits. Example, rising seas threaten coastal barrier
reefs, which protect communities from storm surges, and wetlands, which filter impurities from water.
Drought and pests threaten forests, which provide lumber. Warming temperatures and growing
acidification threaten oceans, lakes, and rivers, which sustain our fisheries. Because nature does not
charge market prices for these services, we tend to greatly undervalue them.
Conclusion
In closing, I urge you to start going eco-friendly. A simple, easy action, such as, planting more tree to make our
surrounding more greener because tree they supply oxygen which is vital to human. Practicing 3R lifestyle is
also one way to create a carbon free surrounding and reducing global warming.
